Dukester's Epic Boo-Hoo Hiding Massive Pentagon Rip-Off
Dukester's Epic Boo-Hoo Hiding Massive Pentagon Rip-Off

now up at www.madcowprod.com

The MadCowMorningNews has learned that California Republican Congressman Randy 'Duke' Cunningham steered $500 million in defense contracts in less than a decade, according to the company's own website, to a start-up San Diego software firm which-and here's the beauty part-doubled as a lobbying firm.

The lobbying firm then gratefully kicked back-at a bare minimum-hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to a Jack Abramoff-directed Washington D.C. lobbying and consulting firm run by two former senior staffers of Texas Republican Tom DeLay.

It offered, in other words, one-stop shopping.

When the San Diego Union-Tribune detailed charges of Congressman Cunningham's questionable activates in December 1997, Cunningham told the paper's reporter that anyone who questioned his actions in lobbying for ADCS could "go to hell."

Its safe to assume, from his sniveling performance yesterday, that he was at that time exhibiting The Bravado of the Currently Un-indicted.

1. Isn't this type of behavior a form of treason it itself. Congresscritters
selling out we the people for boatloads of money? It's certainly against the best interests of this country to have such a bunch of lying thieves in control of who gets what contracts.

2. Crying because he got caught, not because of remorse.
Now he can ..."GO TO HELL!"

3. Yes it is.
In the long run it is cheating the service members whose lives depend on the quality of those contractor's performance. Just as in the previous post about the contractor throwing a $10Million bat mitzvah for his child.

These guys are so busy "getting their's" that someone has to be getting burnt. And we know it is the Taxpayers and the troops.

4. WOW, they bought his ass CHEAP
What, they gave that clown a lousy $2.4 million in exchange for $500M worth of graft? Artist and Entertainment agents charge far more than that percentage!

So, not only is the Duke a greedy, corrupt, evil putz, he also is stupid--if you are gonna cheat, cheat BIG!

This is typical of the guy though--he was an asshole on active duty, and he remains an asshole to this day.

5. Interesting Conversation With My Brother...He Lives In Duke-Stir Land
The Duke lived in the fast lane in on a very fast highway. He represented North County San Diego...the rich and noveau rich of Solana Beach...where if you're not considered "worthy" unless you have at least $10 mil in assets and a high 6-figure annual income...and no one wanted to fit into that world than the Duke-stir.

My brother lives in that district and has long talked about all the big money games that go on in that area between the pols and the defense lobbyists/execs who all live in that area. The dirty secret was that any war is a great thing for San Diego and the more defense money that gets poured in, everyone gets rich...Duke-Stir's job was to get the "grease" and spread it around...and he did it very nicely.

The combination of the money and power is intoxicating and for years, Duke-Stir was no only considered a "god" in his district, but among house repugnicans...he was the perfect foil for being a conduit between the defense contractors and the Congress...and he was more than willing to facilitate in any way possible. This corruption had been going on for years...and my bets are for every $1 the Duke-Stir got nailed on, he got away with $5.

While I'm very, very, very dubious about Mancow as a source, here's hoping someone at the San Diego Union or LA Times is already digging...and if this story has any merit, it just proves my brother has been right all these years. Too bad, he says, this is Country Club Repugnican land...they'll just replace the Duke-Stir with another party hack. He says North County is worse than Orange County and is grateful for the "reality Democrats" in the other parts of the state.
