We Should Keep Our Promises to Africa
This is from an email alert from Refugees International, and I have permission to copy it. To find out more, go to their website at

Tell Congress to Keep Its Promise to the African Union Troops in Darfur

Violence in Darfur is on the rise again, but the U.S. Congress has slashed $50 million of funding for the very force sent to monitor the ceasefire in Darfur -– the African Union Mission in Sudan (AMIS). This funding was promised by the Senate, but was subsequently cut by Congressional members. We need your help to tell Congress to keep its $50 million promise and restore this much-needed funding. The African Union force will be unable to create a secure environment and protect civilians unless the U.S. takes active measures to provide support.
