"Concerned Women thrilled" that .XXX is cancelled. "Porn an illegit biz."
Because, after all, blocking all ".xxx" sites from your family computer would be too easy for the concerned family.

CWA: .XXX Porn Domain Lost in Cyberspace

To: National Desk

Contact: Stacey Holliday (HOLLIDAY?????? ATTACK ON CHRISTmas!!!!!111111111111) of Concerned Women for America, 202-488-7000 ext. 126

WASHINGTON, Dec. 1 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Concerned Women for America (CWA) is thrilled that a plan by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to create a .xxx domain for Internet porn sites has been deleted, days before expected approval.

Vint Cerf, the chairman of ICANN, announced yesterday that the issue had been removed from the agenda of an upcoming board meeting due to time constraints. He did not indicate when it might be reintroduced. Media reports indicate that the news came as a surprise to everyone, including Stuart Lawley, the president of .xxx's sponsoring organization, ICM Registry, who has spent millions of dollars getting the bid this far. Mr. Lawley was due to present the domain to the same meeting just minutes after Mr. Cerf's statement.

CWA actively lobbied against this new domain and has worked to increase awareness of its dangers for families and children.

"Creating a .xxx domain exclusively for pornographers would just be giving them a new platform to spread their smut," said Jan LaRue, CWA's Chief Counsel, who met with top officials at the Department of Commerce to block the domain. "Not only would smut-peddlers retain their current pornographic Web sites on all other domains, they would have been granted their own exclusive one.

"Porn site operators are the only ones who stand to gain from having a .xxx domain. Families across America realize that this outrageous scheme would only provide children with more opportunities to view hard-core porn images, and help legitimize an illegitimate industry," LaRue concluded.

3. Yes, a single xxx domain name for porn
WOULD, in fact, make it easier for parents to block it!

Why does the CWA hate American kids and undermine parents?

9. Block XXX
parents should be able to block this. Turn off your "safe search" in google images once and go searching for inocent things and you will still come up with porn. How are they going to handle this?

4. Stupid asshats
They don't even understand that this is a good thing for families. If there was a .xxx it would cut down on the accidental viewings of porn and provide more opportunity to block it. These people are so stupid, the Three Stooges would look at them and say "Damn, you're mind is jacked up".

5. A new platform? Why, what's stopping them from using .com, .org, .net?
This is the same argument used against "red-light" districts. And the hookers are spreading into suburban areas when they're forced out of the downtown areas.

8. Here is the dumbest thing in the PR
"Families across America realize that this outrageous scheme would only provide children with more opportunities to view hard-core porn images, and help legitimize an illegitimate industry," LaRue concluded."

Hey DUMBASSES... it would be very very very easy to filter out a .xxx domain you could just block ALL .xxx domains, current filter tech makes it very hard to filter smut...

I think this group is run by men anyway.

her Three Monkeys logic is extremely flawed...then again, I shouldn't act too surprised given the source.

21. Or if they have a family
a kid could find it and watch it in their house. That's the parental's duty as a parent.

15. Oh good grief
Don't parents do the parenting anymore? If I had kids I would have AOL and have the parental controls on and leave the computer in a family room where everyone is. That's what my family does. When we got our computer my brother and I were a lot younger (I was in sixth grade or so) and we have it down stairs in a corner of the room where my parents could come over and see what I was doing. Oh and I see how concerned they are about the "war" on Christmas. *snort* Not enough time to save Christmas?! Uh oh!!! :eyes:

19. Here's an idea for them...
Ban kids from the internet. Let them get their own (safe) internet. The internet is worldwide and can't be controlled -- it is an ADULT space.

We don't let kids into bars because it is an adult space. Kids can't come into my back room because it is an adult space. If you let your kids on the internet, you are doing so at your own risk.

20. (checks) Yep, our porn sites are still there.
Foiled again, you stupid fundies.

I happen to think our business is quite legitimate.

Legitimate means to me that we provide exactly what we say we provide. You pay to look at pretty goth/noir/genderbent sex and that's exactly what you get. We spend hundreds of hours on it, between costumes, filming, editing, web design, setting up lights and sets, uploading, stills, promotion, and occasional travel.

It's a lot more work than sitting around bitching, which seems to be what CWA's job entails.

When I sit around doing that (gestures at his current sitting around bitching) I don't make a dime--it's what I do for "FUN" after I work.

CWA's business, on the other hand, which seems to claim to provide a magical fairyland in which nothing that isn't G or PG ever happens, provides what, exactly, again, in return for all the donations you collect? Besides trying to put hard-working people out of business and spreading hate, what exactly do you legitimately provide from YOUR business besides interfering in mine?
