NC executed the 1,000th prisoner in the US last night
since the death penalty was reinstated.

Nothing good has come of those 1,000 people dying. Absolutely fucking nothing.

Some of those people were trying to do decent things from their prison cells...look at Karla Faye Tucker---her work with kids is done...silenced by people who call revenge "justice," or "punishment."

Some of those people were being punished enough just by having to sit in their cells with their regrets, or their ugly thoughts.

This is so morally and ethically wrong that it's hard to even think about it this morning.

2. It is barbaric to say the least. What is wrong with life in prison...
for those who commit heinous crimes, that is just punishment. Just one innocent person being executed is a reason for stopping this barbarism.

3. I am at the point where I think executing the
guilty makes us barbaric.

Why are Americans so bloodthirsty?

7. And those 1,000 would have never again been allowed in public to do that
anyway.

12. In Prison....they can not murder and rape in PRISON now..
I don't know if you have family that work for the Prison system. I do. These pieces of garbage attack correction officers and fellow immates all the time.

The "lifers" have noting to loose.

13. I used to pick up hurt and sick prisoners on the ambulance as a
paramedic.

Maybe the prison system should be reformed so that there is not a chance this could happen.

"Kill 'em" is just Clint Eastwood horseshit; a society with members able to actually think and resolve problems is more productive.

9. And how many do you think where innocent? Seriously?
It seems like every other day I am hearing about someone who has been in prison for 10 years but is finally exonerated from DNA evidence, etc. We know that innocent people are convicted all the time. Once they have been executed, we can't exactly take it back though.

Are you 100% sure all 1000 are guilty, just by your knowledge of worngful convictions? Statistically speaking, isn't it realistic that some of them might have been innocent? Even if we executed only one innocent person, does that make the other 999 executions ok?

10.  16 to 18 protesters were detained and charged with trespass
at least some Carolinians were there to protest.

<snip>
Between 16 and 18 of the protesters were detained shortly before midnight and charged with trespass after stepping onto prison property, police said. Witnesses said many in the group had been on their knees in prayer on a prison driveway.

"This was a peaceful demonstration. They just violated the rules," said State Capitol Police chief Scott Hunter.
