The quotes Bush left out of his war speech

By John Carlson
Des Moines Register
Friday, Dec. 2, 2005

President Bush was delivering what was called "a major speech on Iraq" on Wednesday when he mentioned a very familiar name and spoke a few somewhat familiar words.

...

The thing is, the official White House transcript of the speech included ellipses, those little dots that show the reader something was left out of what was being quoted. Problem is, there are no ellipses in an oral presentation.

...

The Oct. 23 article in the Register details a serious obstacle for one Iraqi army battalion's effort to operate independently of American forces - the fact that it is not adequately equipped.

Indeed, Wood said, "They're pretty much ready to go it on their own." Continuing his thought that day in October, Wood went on to say, "But until they are properly equipped, they'll need our help." Bush left out that second part.

1. Excellent
Thank you for posting that article. This administration's misquotes/misinformation needs to be uncovered every time it happens. I am so sick of hearing the lying little weasel speak, as I know most of it is flawed information, just like we received at the beginning of this fiasco.

Just hearing that 10 more Marines were killed already has me in a snit today, so this was the final straw. Wouldn't you think that when his poll numbers are so low, he'd at least figure out that the truth might bring them back up?

He must have been a handful to raise, even as a very young boy. Well, come to think of it, Babsy is still fighting his battles. She should have been grabbin' him by the ears when he was growing up and then she wouldn't have to be grabbin' Rove and Cheney by their ears, now. From a dysfunctional family to a dysfunctional administration. How did we get so lucky? :-(
