Woman says border agent humiliated her
Zayra Cano, an 18-year-old legal U.S. resident who lives in San Ysidro, said earlier this week that she was breastfeeding her infant daughter in the back seat of the car as she, her fiance, and her parents drove back in August after visiting her brother in Tijuana.

She said a male inspector suspected her of child smuggling. After some back-and-forth about going to secondary inspection, she said, she was asked to lactate on the spot to prove the child was hers. Cano said she was asked to produce milk twice, because her first effort failed to yield enough to convince the inspector.

1. That's sexual harassment. I hope she gets a good lawyer
Of course, her kid was supposed to be in a carseat, but that's not the issue.

but my wife and I also had problems with Canadian Customs if you can believe that. We had our son, who at the time was 3 in the car with us but he didn't have any ID. They let us continue after some questioning. I can understand their concern with all of the human trafficking that is going on. We solved the problem by getting him a passport of his own. It sucks but the border is a scary place since 9/11.

3. I thought I had heard everything, apparently not
If I was a lawyer, I would represent her for FREE.

And the Feds demanded a polygraph from her also. She is a VICTIM in this and they asked for a polygraph?!?

It is worse out there than I thought.

4. i'm white & i occasionally get harrassed
i once got treated to the 3rd degree (short of secondary inspection) at a checkpoint station inside the US when i was headed to corpus for a doctor's appt. it was scheduled for 9 so i was on the road at 6. after asking me more questions than allowed (they are only allowed to ask what your citizenship is), i got one last question "what business do you have going to corpus this early?" "i'm getting a pelvic exam." i snapped. the agent couldn't wave me through fast enough after that. :grr:

i realize these folks are just doing their jobs, yada yada, but that doesn't give them an excuse to exceed their authority & abuse it.
