14 dead, 11 injured in Iraq & MSNBC has a picture of a dog
on their website. They think so little of our soldiers, that they would feature a story and picture of dog over this tragedy. This is wrong.

1. I was on there a few hours ago
and their top article was on how wonderful the economy is. Like they can pull the wool over our eyes with that bull. We are living it and we know better. Their great economic figures are all lies anyway. Another pro bush propaganda story to try to take our attention off of the fact that bush's war is failing and our young men and women are dying in large numbers. They suck.

3. The Resident of the White House
Knew that ten marines had died and 11 were wounded BEFORE the speech in the rose garden yesterday.....and he didn't mention it either.

4. Ya know, I don't think these deaths & injuries mean anything to him.
He seems like a cold, heartless man/boy. I swear he is the antichrist, and our country is in deep trouble.

2. It's disgusting...
the more people turn to other news sources..the better we will all be. The televised news industry has gone way too far with pabulum news ...and I don't think people realize how harmful that crap is. Mind your head.

10. My son, too

You realize how very very young they are, how much life they have left to live, how insane it is that they should be dying in this lie-based war.

12. In Vietnam, the average age of the soldier was 19.
Edited on Fri Dec-02-05 10:53 PM by Straight Shooter
There was a song called "19" with a video. It mesmerized me when it first came out, and I've never been able to find it since.

19 years old. That's, like, 15 years of being truly aware of the world around you, and only approximately 7 years of cognitive thinking.

Think about it. 7 years of being actively engaged with mind, body, heart and soul in the world, and then you're dead.

edit: I found it! I had never searched for it on the 'Net. Here it is. It was written by Paul Hardcastle. Yes, the "stammering" of the word "nineteen" is how the song actually played.

19

In 1965 Vietnam seemed like just another foreign war,
but it wasn't.
It was different in many ways, as so were those that did the fighting.
In World War II the average age of the combat soldier was 26...
In Vietnam he was 19.
In inininininin Vietnam he was 19.

(TV announcer's voice)
The shooting and fighting of the past two weeks continued today
25 miles west of Saigon
I really wasn't sure what was going on (Vet's Voice)

Nininini Nineteen, 19, Ni-nineteen 19
19,19,19,19

In Vietnam the combat soldier typically served a twelve month tour of duty but
was exposed to hostile fire almost everyday
Ninininininininininin 19 nininininninin 19

Hundreds of Thousands of men who saw heavy combat in Vietnam were arrested since discharge Their arrest rate is almost twice that of non-veterans of the same age.
There are no accurate figures of how many of these men have been incarcerated.
But, a Veterans Administration study concludes that the greater of Vets
exposure to combat could more likely affect his chances of being arrested or convicted.

This is one legacy of the Vietnam War

(Singing Girls)
All those who remember the war
They won't forget what they've seen..
Destruction of men in their prime
whose average was 19
Dedededededede-Destruction
Dedededededede-Destruction
War, War
Dededede-Destruction, wa-wa-War, wa-War, War
Dedededededede-Destruction
War, War

After World War II the Men came home together on troop ships, but the Vietnam
Vet often arrived home within 48 hours of jungle combat
Perhaps the most dramatic difference between World War II and Vietnam was
coming home.. .none of them received a hero's welcome
None of them received a heroes welcome, none of them, none of them
Nenene Nenene None of them, none of them, none of them (etc...)
None of them received a hero's welcome
None of them received a hero's welcome

According to a Veteran's Administration study
Half of the Vietnam combat veterans suffered from what Psychiatrists call
Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder
Many vets complain of alienation, rage, or guilt
Some succumb to suicidal thoughts
Eight to Ten years after coming home almost eight-hundred-thousand men are
still fighting the Vietnam War

(Singing Girls)
Dedededededede-Destruction

Nininininininininin Nineteen, 19, Ni-nineteen 19
19,19,19,19
Nininininininininin Nineteen, 19, Ni-nineteen 19
19,19,19,19

(Soldiers Voice)
When we came back it was different.. Everybody wants to know "How'd it
happened to those guys over there
There's gotta be something wrong somewhere
We did what we had to do
There's gotta be something wrong somewhere
People wanted us to be ashamed of what it made us
Dad had no idea what he went to fight and he is now
All we want to do is come home
All we want to do is come home
What did we do it for
All we want to do is come home
Was it worth it?

8. BTW...Most Americans relate more to their pets than to those dying in Iraq
It's more real to them. It's what our society is today. But, the Pets of NO's and the Gulf are important, too. As are all those families still suffering while the News talks about "Reconstruction, and New Orleans Conventions."

What's going on at home is bad, too. And what's going on at home is what's causing the deaths of those in Iraq. The families that won't have sons or fathers or cousins home this Christmas. (I said sons because I don't think there were any women killed in this round of soldiers.) Who knows how many Iraqi's are being bombed to go along with the deaths of our soldiers.

11. I give Americans more credit than that. I lost my own beloved
Edited on Fri Dec-02-05 10:47 PM by AnotherMother4Peace
17 year old dog recently, but I would never put this relationship above that of our soldiers dying. And I don't think Americans do.

You're right, it's not just our soldiers dying and getting maimed. There are so many Iraqis suffering and dying. My heart is breaking. I write my letters, & donate to causes, I feel so much at a loss. I wrote to MSNBC and told them how heartless it was to put the dog story above the deaths of these soldiers. I feel so helpless sometimes.
