Christmas is nothing but a credit-driven potlatch with pagan trimmings--
at least as 90% of Americans celebrate it. Is that what O'Reilly, Falwell et al are defending? Used to be, back when the country was a little less crazy, pundits and ministers preached against the commercialization of Christmas. Apparently, that battle has been lost, and now the only recourse for a good rightwing American windbag is to seek publicity by crusading against the utterly harmless expression "Happy Holidays." Never mind that the first night of Hanukkah is Dec. 25 this year. If you're Jewish and dislike having your cultural traditions trampled by the fundies--screw you! Move back to Israel where you came from! The best way to stick a pin in a windbag is ridicule. O'Reilly, Falwell and the rest are nothing but pathetic little Jesus-humpers; all they care about is getting their full fifteen minutes, and the paycheck that comes with it. If Jesus was around today, he'd slap them upside the head and tell them to shut the fuck up.

Thank you very much for your attention, and happy freaking holidays.

1. Yeah, whatever happened to the religious people screaming about the
commercialization of Christmas??? No one seems to be saying don't buy up the store anymore. Where did they all go? Did the Falwell and Pat Robertsons sell out to big business and the haves and have mores too??

2. did you catch Falafel Boy's "success" story yesterday?
TFF! He aired an entire commercial for a department store because they supposedly changed their commercials to use "Christmas" instead of "holiday" AND THE COMMERCIAL was about buying this and that useless crap AND used images of Santa Claus to boot!!

I am all over this potlatch - credit card scam.

We are just being led around by the nose those by vested interests that benefit from comformity and mindless consumerism.

These xmass fundies are one ugly package aren't they ?

4. We've opted out...
... at the Mad as Hell household. We're done with Christmas, that's it, it's over, GOODBYE!

The extended family will get together and have a nice dinner and interesting conversation. That's all, no presents, no Santa, no nuthin! Maybe a Pagan tree and a fire in the fireplace. The Xtians and the Capitalists can have the rest of their stupid little holiday without us.

Hey Jesus... if you come back this month and you're around that night, come have dinner with us! We're not freaky worshippers, so you may actually have a good time!

6. last year i told everyone in my family not to buy me anything
and i wasn't buying them anything. we had lunch together and just sat around talking. i was a very good xmas. and i write "xmas" because i am not a religious person at all. it is just a habit to me but i think it can be used for family togetherness and quiet time together. and i get the day off work which is always good.

well i DID get my brother's stepson something but he was 5 and i didn't think it was fair to him since he wouldn't understand the whole anti-commercialization arguement.
