Bill Bennett: color your finger to show solidarity with Iraqis

Bill Bennett has asked Americans for a colorful favor that will help show support for democracy throughout the world.

"On Dec. 12, when elections begin in Iraq,” Bennett told Neil Cavuto in a Fox News Channel interview, "let’s see many Americans color their right index finger purple in solidarity for the people voting in free elections in Iraq.”

Bennett, who supports the war against terrorism and the continued liberation of Iraq, said President Bush is wise to "stay the course” in the face of negative attacks by Democrats and jelly-legged critics who are calling for the U.S. to pull troops from Iraq. "Many people in America are more distressed about it (the war in Iraq) than the people who are living through the crisis,” Bennett said. "Staying the course is a prudent policy and one that will ensure that the 2000 or so soldiers we have lost will not have died in vain.”

Bennett said the war on terrorism – not just in Iraq – is "succeeding on every front,” but it goes against "conventional wisdom” of media companies to report that truth.

10. WOW!! What could be of more assistance to the Iraqi people ...
... than colouring our fingers purple? That's right up there with 'Support the Troops' bumper-stickers (which are, of course, made in China).

As for media outlets 'going against conventional wisdom' by not reporting how 'well' things are going, how does Mr. Bennett explain the fact that these same media companies are owned/controlled by corporations that are making a fortune from their defence contracts, and will continue to do so as long as the 'war' lasts?

I believe that this war borders on genocide. If the US continues the march to war with Iran, there will be nukes used, because the US doesn't have the soldiers for a standard war.

If we really believed they might be killed for voting why would we use ink that couldn't be washed off?
To get them killed? To discourage those under that threat from voting?

To brag it was worth the risk of death to vote in an election where people didn't even know who was running before they went in to vote?

To color our own finger we wouldn't be showing support for democracy or for Iraqis. We'd be showing support for our stupid ideas that hurt Iraq.
