What do Republicans hold sacred?
Edited on Tue Dec-06-05 02:59 PM by Jara sang
Not America. They want to cordon it off, sell and divide our nation. It's not freedom. They want to create a theocratic state, where only their core values are defended. Not liberty. Republicans resort to torture and election rigging. Not the U.S. Constitution, they rip it to shreds every chance they get. The only thing Republicans hold sacred is money and power.

3. Depends on which branch of the Republicans one is referring to...
but if we are speaking of Republican politicians and not those citizens who believe themselves to be affiliated with that party, than your pretty much on the mark.

and the instruments necessary to protect their share.

This is why they support only those state functions that are set up to protect them from the unwashed masses - police and military.

14. One word
Money. I like money as well as anyone, but it's what one does with it that counts. Try helping others with it. Try paying workers a good wage, try helping poor people with health care, try rehabbing alcohol and drug abusers. Just a few thoughts.

20. Whatever keeps them in power
They've done major flip-flops on security (Clinton bombing Afghanistan was "wagging the dog") to Supreme Court nominations (No up or down votes for Miers?) to "The President's choices must not be questioned (Hello, what WASN'T questioned during Clinton's presidency?).

Irony is a foreign concept to these guys.

21. Positioning themselves to persecute others,....
,...in order to rationalize their exploitation of people and resources.

They have no respect for nor do they value democracy, this nation or the American people, let alone humanity.

I hate to engage in broad-brush characterizations. However, as a party, I believe the foregoing description is accurate although with exceptions.

22. Power, property and money
What's theirs is theirs and what's ours will be theirs soon. Republicans (the powerful ones, not the Jeebus jabberers) make their money the old fashioned way - they extort it from the peasantry at the point of a sword.

27. Historically money, now they want our bodies and minds as well.
I sort of miss the old money republicans. They could be open on things like civil rights and personal freedom because they could see that it would do no harm economically and might even help. There aren't many of those left anymore. Now, they want it all and if our shrinking pie burns to a crisp, at least they have some big pieces stored away.

28. Themselves
In a word.

Money, property, privilege, possession, power, control over others - are all just ways to effect the best circumstances for themselves.

And that's not the plural 'themselves' either; they couldn't care less about each other, only as a means to help themselves singular.

They turn on each other as viciously as they do to the poor or minorities or Democrats the second one of them becomes more of a liability than maintaining that person would be a benefit.
