McKinney--House Select Com on Katrina Response--Dem leadership
boycotted. The AA community rose to the occasion. McKinney is a brave soul and a good community leader.

1. She was awesome
At the end of the second panel today, McKinney said that although the committee's final report will probably lack integrity at least with Dem presence there (hers) there will be some integrity in the final report.

2. I'm glad some Dems go to the Committee. That helps a lot BUT I do
think the Leadership was right to boycott it.

The Democrats were given no right to subpoena or call witnesses. It would only happen if the Republicans would go along with it. The problems with the partisan committee leading the investigation are real.

3. Of course it will. There will just have to be another look - at responce
to all disasters and what the alternative could have been - with some planning and empathy instead of crisis being seen as opportunity.
