Chris Shays accusing "Mama D" (Dyan French) of lying on C-span 2
right now.

Bunch of ladies from New Orleans neighborhoods testifying before congressional committee. (Cynthia McKinney is there, thank God.)

Mama D was absolutely fantastic. After seeing (on TV) and hearing first-hand accounts of what happened in New Orleans, I fail to see how Chris Shays can doubt much of what this woman is saying.

Let's face it, so many unbelievable, outlandish, things happened in New Orleans (and elsewhere), starting on Aug. 29... it is quite believable that Mama D DID hear an explosion when the levee broke.

But Shays flat-out accused her of lying.

I'm not inclined to believe that anyone deliberately broke the London Avenue Canal levee... but on face value, Mama D has so much more credibility than does Chris Shays, I'm going to have to believe her, rather than believe him when he says she's just a liar.

And as far as the incredible tales of survival and subsequent loss, she was absolutely great.

Another woman there said some of the National Guard or maybe security guards, she wasn't sure, pointed guns at her and some children. Now this part I completely believe. Happens all the time in New Orleans (though not with the National Guard.)

1. I'm sorry but I think Shays did the right thing
You can't say something like that and not have it go unchallenged.

2. Maybe what she heard was the sound of the levee breaking
and it sounded like an explosion.

3. That's my belief, too. I don't think it was a contrived explosion to
save the more affluent neighborhoods. Lakeview, one affluent neighborhood, was completely flooded & those residents are still displaced.

I do give these witnesses' testimonies a lot of credence, though. I believe they were treated very badly.

Knowing how petulant, divisive, & vengeful this administration is, I believe with all my heart that the federal government's slow response was due more to the fact that African Americans in New Orleans vote Democratic. One need only to be reminded that the boy king doesn't allow non-Republicans at his public appearances to understand his lack of good will for those who didn't vote for him.

4. Momma D was there, Chris Shays was in his office in D.C.
Who's got more credibility?

You decide.

Thanks for posting.
