1. Rummie Gave Both Iraq AND Iran weapons/military equipment
During the Iran/Iraq war.

2. The C-130 has been around since the '50s
It's not inconcieveable that we gave some to the Shah.

3. Maybe it was left over from the days when Iran was our bee-atch.
It wouldn't be surprising if one of our former lovers kept the presents we gave them. Saddam kept his poison gas, didn't he?

8. Before the Ayatollah
Iran was our ally. We sold a buttload of hardware to the Shah, much of which is still in service.

into an old, poorly maintained because they don't have any parts to maintain it, CARGO plane!?!

Don't they have any Russian or EU built Passenger Jets for members of the Media? :wtf:

11. the article does point it out...
Does anyone read these? :)

This was the fourth crash involving Iran's US-made Hercules fleet, which dates from the era of the Shah when America had close links with Iran. Since the 1979 revolution, Washington's sanctions have meant spare parts are difficult to acquire, prompting suspicion that the crashes have been caused by poor maintenance."
