These soldiers are absolutely terrorizing Iraqi civilians... beating them... women screaming, kicking in doors, flashbangs... it's a nightmare. And put together as a trophy video by a soldier no less.

This is the best summary I've seen - Kerry was only saying the same thing he's talked about for the last month and a half. Part of Kerry's plan is a sensible reccomendation that Iraqis police Iraqi neighborhoods and do the search and destroy missions - for 2 reasons - they put US soldiers who can't speak the language at risk and fuel anti- American hatred. The RW is twisting his words.

He said that American soldiers should not be going around terrorizing Iraq women and children on raids -- the Iraqis should be doing the raids instead. I don't have the quote handy but it was on Face the Nation. It's a lie, and the right wing is trying to twist his words. Now that Swift Boat jerk O'Neill is back on cable spouting his usual Nixon era lies about Kerry. This, of course, proves that * is in trouble if all the right wing can do is attack the man he defeated a year ago. Their plan now seems to be attack as many Democratic veterans as possible.

By the way, I hope you were referring to Rush Limbaugh when you said "meathead".

He talked about "American soldiers shouldn't be breaking into Iraqi homes in the dead of night terrorizing civilians."

He meant the people doing the hose checks should be Iraqi's and it would be more beneficial and far less frightening to the civilians.

As usual, Kerry doesn't speak like a normal person. I'm not sure what it is. Some say he speaks like a Senator. I don'tt know, but I'm tired of having to always explain for him!!!!

Cuz it's the truth. Screw the timid and the bastards who can't stand the truth. This is what is happening. No matter what anyone says the right wing is going to twist it, so just say what the hell is happening.

This is also what Cong. Murtha said. It was a key reason as to why he thought the US should begin to pull out troops. The Democrats have to tell the truth and not be afraid of the RW Spin machine.

He should have added the "Iraqi's should be doing those searches, not Americans."

He didn't, which leaves the opening to all his opponents to take his words and exlpoit them!

It's a shame, but I think Kerry is assuming most of the American people are smarter than they really are, or perhaps it's they're just not paying enough attention!

And he has said that again and again since Oct 26th when he first used that argument to call for a pullback of US troops. (It's the reson behind the logic that the solution to Iraq is not military, it's political. You can't have US troops going in without knowing the language and customs and doing the house-to-house searches.)

You can't avoid the RW traps. Screw them. You have to say what you want and just know that they will cut off the end of the sound bite. It's wrong, it's not journalism and it's not true. But this is what they do. The alternative is to say nothing which is unacceptable.

Yes...I was terrorized, scared to death, and suffered extreme fear and anxiety as a result. The people who threw the rock through the window were our neighbors who had a different religious belief system from us.

They were indeed reckless in their behavior all because their culture was different from ours.

Now, fast forward to 30 years later, and you have men (occupiers) of a different nationality and faith, barging threw doors, carrying loaded guns, and shouting in a different language to everyone in the house...You think these people are terrorized? Scared to death? Suffer post traumatic stress and high levels of anxiety as a result?

With all the whines for Democrats to show backbones, Kerry showed backbone by stating the unequivocal truth--and you have people in here complaining.

They trashed Kerry with swiftboat, etc etc...and perhaps we thought he didn't articulate his message sufficiently to win.
