Most Canadian DUers are members. C'mon, whip out that plastic. It won't hurt a bit, I swear.

...it was about the ethics. After all, I just got through asking DUers to keep an eye on Bush to make sure -he- doesn't throw money at -our- election. Don't the same ethics apply?

But DU is so much more than just politics (although I admit I'm hooked on it).

I wonder about the ethics myself. But I don't contribute to political campaigns (and it's probably not legal) and I don't write letters to congressmen or senators because I wouldn't appreciate an American RWer doing that to us.

I just observe and comment occasionally. Just remember to give a little disclaimer every now and again to posters who think you're American.

My user name usually gives my nationality away, so I don't worry about it too much.

I don't mind contributing words. But cash can be converted into all kinds of things, so I wasn't sure about the ethics.

It takes money to run a board this complex. Salaries, services, etc. I'm not even sure if the contributors get paid much.

Can anyone enlighten us? Do DU funds ever get channeled to politcal causes?

why not write a check to the Republican National Committee and in turn, they can send a check to DU?

Or ... just change your name to Tom Delay!

without even reading the posts you supply, from my experience with reading your posts for a while...when I see your name I know it will be about your child and your distaste for public schools and school teachers. I am one, and I am proud of what I do, so I usually skip your posts. I'm sorry but you seem to me to be obsessed with the issue and I know I will never come around to your line of thinking....so.

Well, thanks for the feedback. I feel I've contributed on a number of topics other than education, but certainly education is much on my mind these days.

I try to refrain from using it. I'd rather get my reality unfiltered, walk away if I'm feeling frustrated and sooth that furrowed brow with quality time with my family.

Speaking of which, my son and I must step out and fetch kindling. :-)
