I also hate copying/paste from the places where their quotation marks " and dashes - change to funky symbols here and make it difficult to read. I always try to edit those out and replace them with the same thing which then shows up OK.

What program is it that doesn't transfer correctly over here? I know the Huffington Post blogs do that.
