1. I believe he was fired
CNN wants more ratings with pretty boys like Anderson Cooper and boring stories like the run-a-way bride.

5. He wanted to spend more time with his family.
I kid! It's all about ratings, and he wasn't getting high enough numbers, so Cooper, being the darling as a result of Katrina and his excellent work, got the gig.

6. CNN pandering to a younger and female demographic
like you, B.

Did it work?

Brown had a contract that guarantees income for years.

7. 'Um
No...it didn't.

I know that Aaron Brown could be a bit smarmy, but I do think he had substance as a journalist.

Heck, I wish CNN would get rid of Wolf Blitzer, I loathe him.

10. Wolfie is very partisan.
Aaron I think was hired because they thought he was moderate leaning to right. He proved himself to be moderate leaning to left. Can't have that.

12. Blitzer's a full-on card carrying Neo-Con
He's completely disgusting, he'd never be allowed on any European news program as an anchor I bet.

17. Wolfie was originally hired by Ted Turner back when CNN was good
Of course he was a Gulf War correspondent back then, so I think that Ted was assuming that he'd get killed before he could actually get his own show.

8. I'm glad he's gone......
He had a holier than thou, condescending, smug, and "I so much smarter than you" attitude that drove me nuts. Good riddance. And BTW, his voice drove me nuts.

19. Agreed
I wrote to Brown in the cheer leading lead-up to the invasion of Iraq and criticized the fact that he did not give voice to those advising against an invasion. I got an arrogant and insulting response from Mr. Brown to which I responded, and then I received another nasty response from him. And in hindsight, Brown deserved every bit of my criticism of his coverage of the rush to war. He and the rest of the MSM media failed miserably to perform their duty.

I love Anderson Cooper, but it was the beginning of the end when he was brought on as "co-host". If there was a spike in the ratings, CNN probably just fired Aaron Brown to put in a more "exciting" host. It's a shame because Aaron Brown was very knowledgeable & reassuring, and always respectful to his guests. He was an old-fashioned news broadcaster. And it's not his fault, but it made me like Cooper a little bit less.

ETA: Oops, Cooper is the "exciting" host; Brown is the exiting one.
