Joe Lieberman have to be Secretary of Defense.

And isn't "Lieber" the German word for love?

4. He was thought well enough of to be Vice President of the United States
by Al Gore in 2000.

And he is also the ranking member of the Homeland Security Committee and the Armed Services Committee.

I suppose he is as qualified as any senator that's been around for decades.

5. I'm feeling a little slow here.
What happened to bring "Lieberman" and "Secretary of Defense" together in the same sentence?

8. Well, clamp my diodes and call me "Frank"
I've been out of touch for the past three days, or I might have seen it before. Frankly, though, I think it's nothing but speculation. The Bush administration will always prefer to promote from within.

6. I remember back in the early days of DU when I objected
Edited on Thu Dec-08-05 10:33 PM by Cleita
to Lieberman for the very the reasons everyone is objecting to him now, I nearly got banned from DU. So now I feel that the worm is turning. We need to identify those who don't help our country and say it. Lieberman is one of them.

Making him Secretary of Defense puts Israel in charge of the Middle East. Don't you get it? However, Rummy said it was all lies tonight on The News Hour, while he carried on with his "my goodness" comments and was sneering all along.

My opinion is that Rummy is going to replace Dick Cheney as VP.

9. This is my beef--or veggie loaf--w/ JL as SoD:
He was not in the military. Even Rummy was in the military. Gordon England, Rummy's 2d is/was secy of Navy x 2, but was never in the Navy. He came from the heavily military industrial complex and fancies weird new weaponry, the type that could be built by the kinds of companies he used to run. Of course, that is a popular idea w/ the Boeings, the Raytheons, etc. And they are contributors--and produce voters. JL has hawk supporters a-plenty, but with some voters the Israel thing is going to be hhis albatross.

10. i doubt he'd be welcome in the arab world
but then, look at karen hughes. dubya's practice of chosing the wrong people or chosing people for their ability to alienate probably means jl is a shoe-in.
