My HS senior daughter's recruitment letter from the Nat'l Guard.
Edited on Thu Dec-08-05 10:45 PM by BleedingHeartPatriot
Here's the text of the letter she received today...I am transcribing it exactly, including the underlining, capitalization and bolding included in the letter.

There's not much else I can say. The letter speaks for itself.

Dear American,

You may never have another chance like this one. To become a force against terror and other forces that threaten American's way of life.

Throughout the year, parents, teachers, counselors, coaches and even your friends have been asking you:

"What are you going to do next?"

What will your answer be?

Before you decide, you owe it to yourself to talk to the Army National Guard. Make no mistake. The Guard needs you. Just call 1-800-GO-GUARD to find out why.

The skills and experiences you'll gain as a soldier are irreplaceable. They will help you succeed and advance in whatever civilian career you eventually choose.

You can also go to college right away,, because the Guard offers up to 100% Tuition Assistance.

But that's not where it ends.

Threats to America are everywhere, and we need to confront them swiftly and forcefully when they arise. Whether it's helping to fight the war on terror or cleaning up after earthquakes, tornadoes or hurricanes, Americans need the best and the brightest to protect them.

Will you answer their call?

You no longer have to stand on the sidelines watching as others defend America. This is your chance to make a difference.

Tens of thousands of men and women just like you have embarked on this great adventure full of challenges, adventure and new experiences. They are waiting for you to join them.

You have many options to consider this year, and will have to make some tough decisions. The Army National Guard is a big commitment, but the sacrifice you make for your country will be rewarded and appreciated.

Check us out; there's absolutely no obligation on your part.

Call 1-800-GO-GUARD today to find out more about the Army National Guard. There's absolutely no commitment, and you'll be glad you called.

Sincerely,

Richard R. G------
LTC, National Guard Bureau
Chief, Strength Maintenance Division

P.S. When you meet with your recruiter, make sure to ask about your free T-shirt and DVD. The Guard has them reserved just for you.

3. Forward it to the bush twins.
Highlight the part that says "You no longer have to stand on the sidelines watching as others defend America."

7. Learn some history son.
What were Repugs doing during the 90s? Oh thats right, spending 80 million investigating a hummer, why chasting the CoC for every military move he made.

Go back to drooling over your picture of Nancy Reagan, jerkwad.

when her dad took office. The bush twins were in college when their monster/father became pres.

BIG difference. I can do the math for you if you need. I realize that koolaid you've been drinking probably fried some of those brain cells.

11. I really liked the way the letter combined hurricanes and "terra".
Hey, you could be fighting Al Queda or cleaning up after a hurricane. It's all the same, right?

12. Yeah, is that the punctuation they used, too?
Because if it is, they must be aiming their recruiting efforts at people who dont rite english so gud.

17. Yes, that is the exact punctuation. I was struck by the use of underlining

and bold letters.

And, yes, the grammer and punctuation was for effect, not correctness. MKJ

edited to correct my own grammer. :hi:

27. "the sacrifice you make for your country will be rewarded and appreciated.
A box, a flag, a tombstone, and a family that will mourn for you the rest of their lives.

And don't run against a Republican because they show their 'gratitude' by smearing your reputation.

And don't even think about coming back from war and say that the war is a mistake and should stop, because then Republican chicken-hawks (whose soft asses you left in Washington when you shipped out to war) call you "coward".

A pity there is no truth in advertising when it comes to the US military.

Great post.

All I'd add is that the described success in whatever "civilian career you eventually choose" requires you choose the career of corpse.
