Many of our Founding Fathers hated Christmas...Those rat bastards
ON May 11, 1659, those damned God-hating, anti-Christians, known as the Puritans banned Christmas Celebrations in the Massachussetts Bay Colony. I don't understand why they hated God so much. Not only did the Puritans ban Christmas celebrations, but public schools in Boston stayed open on Christmas as late as 1870.
I can't believe how much our forefathers hated Christmas.

10. My point exactly
Those insidious God-hating, anti-Christian, Happy Holiday Celebrating Puritans totally contaminated the public consciousness so we'd hate Christmas. It's only thanks to the work of shill o'lielly and what's-his-face donahoe of the Catholic Anti-Defamation league that we are finally crawling out of our God-hating culture.

9. Easter is the most important Christian holy day
Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 12:32 AM by LiviaOlivia
Easter is it. Christmas is secondary at the least. Blasphemy? Not on my part. Blasphemy is coming from right-wing fundies espousing the holiness of December 25.

Aren't they Christians? Haven't they studied the scriptures?

12. The Puritans knew Christmas was a cover for pagan festivities
always was, always will be.

I heard this was the origin of the "traditional" US Thanksgiving holiday. Christmas was banned, so people started celebrating what was a traditional English Christmas a monht earlier.

13. In defense of the puritans lets not forget they had no Malls.
I am not an expert on that era but I am pretty sure they had no plastics or electronics. Recall also that these people
were getting along with what kind of alcoholic beverages? I don't know that they had any alcohol in fact more than a few simply died!
They just did not have the tools that we take for granted to honor the birth of Christ. Lets not disparage those who
through no fault of their own were born BC, before consumerism.
