The last argument for war.

In water cooler debates about the Iraq war, the pro-war side usually finishes with that stuff about Saddam Hussein offering money to the families of anti-Israel suicide bombers. Bush plays the same card.

But when it comes to Americans making donations to the families of abortion clinic terrorists, it's apparently not even illegal, let alone used as an excuse to bomb anti-choice communities.

Why is that?

Saddam was a real cheapskate compared to them.

Because they respond with something along the lines of 'it's a geopolitical issue- we need to keep Saudi Arabia as an ally'.

I got this response recently myself. So I asked, "you're saying that terrorism takes a backseat to regional control".

B-duh...

"Sounds like we agree".

That money, along with money donated by Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Libya and other rich Arab states went to the various Palestinian groups to kill Israelis. Yes wrong, but it sure wasn't enough of a problem for Israel to launch air strikes or other military actions against Iraq.

That's another strawman argument, since Hussein wasn't the only one funding those terrorists. It also doesn't connect the question of why was American hit by Saudis and Egyptians on 9/11. This one still gets wingnuts heads spinning cause they want so badly for all those hijackers to be Iraqis...it'd make their lives and lies so much easier to pass along. It's then that I hit them with this being a war for oil and profit...just to make sure they burn with maximum effect.

They say we invaded Iraq b/c Saddam was paying money to the families of Palestinians who did suicide bombings in Israel?

Shouldn't it have been Israel's job to invade Iraq, then?

Instead, we got:

"What's that, Israel? You want we should beat up Iraq 'cause Saddam's paying money to families of people who bomb your citizens? Sure... okay! We'll take 'em out... hey, you don't mind us makin' a little money (okay--a LOT of money) while we're doin' it, do ya?"

"Naw... just take 'em out. No prob with the makin' money/takin' oil part, long as you cut us in, okay?"

I'd say Israel has gotten even with ol' Saddam for that one.

So bring our troops home.
