Bill Donohue irked about South Park
http://www.catholicleague.org/05press_releases/quarter%204/051208_south_park.htm

Catholic League president Bill Donohue remarked today about last night’s episode of “South Park” (it will run again for the next three nights):

“A ‘South Park’ character gets a DWI and is ordered to attend AA meetings. Told about the 12-step program, he concludes that he needs a miracle to cure him. The plot then focuses on a statue of the Virgin Mary who is ‘bleeding out her ass.’ The Vatican dispatches a cardinal to investigate and he is sprayed with blood when he walks behind the statue. He then declares this to be a miracle, which draws even more people. The alcoholic, now in a wheelchair, is also sprayed with blood: he then claims he is cured and jumps out of his seat.

“Pope Benedict XVI goes to investigate. He, too, is sprayed with blood when he walks behind the statue. A reporter says, ‘The pope investigated further and determined that the statue was not bleeding out its ass, but its vagina.’ To which the pope replies: ‘A chick bleeding out her vagina is no miracle. Chicks bleed out their vaginas all the time.’

I can see why Bill Donahue is upset, cause SP just goes after Catholics... wrong

South Park goes after everyone.... Christians, Jews, Muslims, conservobots, liberals, dems and repubs.

Bill should spend his time more wisely. Going after the "battle for christmas" and SP is so typical of this idiot.

Hell, if you remember the first ever episode, Jesus and Santa battle it out for who is superior re: Christmas.

13. Ah yes, the original web based South Park
When Stone and Parker were just a couple of goofy guys with a cute idea. Did you know it all started with a holiday e-mail they made for a studio exec?

7. NOT A MIRACLE! The vatican ruled, as they always do.
Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 09:05 AM by Neil Lisst
It's friggin' parody! The vatican always rules these statue stimata NOT a miracle, so it's accurate. And can we just clear this up. Even in the Bible, Mary is not a special person, not a religious figure, no one of moment in the comments of Jesus. The ONLY reason she's even a figure in the Catholic church is because they co-opted a pagan goddess to help sell Christianity to the masses.

9. Miracle is an overused word anyway...particularly the miracle of birth.
Which considering there are literally billions of humans occupying the planet at any given time and billions more mammals running around, the "miracle" of birth is about miraculous as rain in Seattle.

12. They had trouble explaining how a "woman" could give birth to a god
and still be so inherently evil and the cause of all sin. Thus Mary became a goddess, pure and perfect. Wonder how they explain Jesus' other brothers and sisters?

11. How does Bill Donohue get so much air time?
This nut was on ABC last night, ranting about the Bush White House's "holiday" card, and making totally nonsensical points. It occurred to me that he is delusional at best, and quite possibly deranged. Why major media outlets give this nut free air time is beyond me, particularly when they get all picayune about the facts in anti-GOP ads and refuse to run them.

14. How many people here allow their children to watch this show?
Just curious if anyone here thinks SP is appropriate for children. I know their disclaimer says it isn't appropriate for anyone to watch and I tend to agree but Cartoon shows have a nasty habit of enticing children...Should children watch?

16. This is the same Donohue that said
"Ninety-six percent of Americans celebrate Christmas. Spare me the diversity lecture."

Donohue can get bent.
