Former ABC newsman Dave Marash to work for Al Jazeera
(Lloyd Grove column in NY Daily News)

FROM ABC TO AL JAZEERA? I'm hearing that former ABC News "Nightline" reporter Dave Marash has signed up to be the first American correspondent for the Qatar-based television news outlet. Marash didn't respond to a detailed message yesterday.

1. Wow. That's interesting.
I always enjoyed his very smooth and laid-back style on Nightline.

2. He's a good man
Used to do local reporting on CBS TV here in the city in the 60's and 70's. One of the few TV guys with principles (you'll never see him suck up to anybody).

3. I remember him from way back on NY TV
I've always liked him and his dressed down, slightly rumpled style. He'll be in good company at Al Jazeera. Sir David Frost has signed on, too.

4. Al Jazeera online is a great source for in depth news

I'm actually quite impressed with the thoroughness of some of the news articles. I've rarely found them anywhere close to "slanted" as I do our mainstream media. Does that make me unpatriotic?
