Two reasons why Lieberman should not replace Rummy:
Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 11:15 AM by Ignacio Upton
1. The REPUBLICAN Governor of Connecticut, Jodi Rell, will apoint a Republican replacement. Most likely Chris Shays or Rob Simmons, who while they might be barely winning their left-of-center congressional districts, Connecticut as a whole is moderate enough to accommodate a Senator Shays or Senator Simmons. They will have incumbency advantages overs any Democratic candidate, and even Lowell Weicker.

2. Having Lieberman as Secretary of Defense will allow for Republicans to say that the fuck ups in Iraq are BIPARTISAN. Bush can blame US is something goes wrong. You will have Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter screaming about how we are responsible for failure to stop insurgents.

2. What experience does Joe Lieberman have to be Secretary of Defense?
It's bizarre. Where has he served in the military? What does he know about troops? Even that fool Rummy served in the Air Force or something...and has been in DC forever hobnobbing with the military with his fellow PNAC'er's and the folks in the RW Think Tanks.

What has Lieberman done that gives him any experience? Or, is it just to make Dems look like fools when Lieberman does the final fuck up of the Military or invades Syria to protect Israel?

5. Then we will have a 44-56 Senate!
And will have to spend a lot of money dislodging Shays.

I hope liberman takes the job

and If Rell does apoint Simmons or Shey's its great news for a dem who lives in one of there house districs

never mind liberman at SOD Might Save my Job at Electric boat since im sure he would order the navy to build more subs at EB.

7. Why should the DSCC and DNC be burdenrf with another costly race?
Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 01:35 PM by Ignacio Upton
Shays and Simmons may be douche-bags, but they will likely win if they are given Lieberman's seat (actually, Shays will, but Simmons will have a tougher race because of his DeLay connections.)

10. Becuse if done right we gain a seat in the house also
Simmions is superweak he was not a couple weeks ago but now that EB Anounced Layoff's he will be week come november expecaly if Electric Boat General Dynamics do layoff.

since He Campained in his reElection on a platform that was to save the New London/Groton Subbase and Subschool and Electric boat.

well the base is not going anyware but now EB Has lost Contracts for Overhull on The LA Class boats.

so EB will be having a Layoff now it looks like.
which hurts him

and like already said The Dems has not had a good canadate for The 2nd distric in a while.

and I Suspect that if Simmons is the one picked Cathy Cook would run for the 2nd Distric Seat as a republican and be nice to get her out of the State Senate.

8. I am from the 2nd district too.
(Gales Ferry). So I hope she does appoint Simmons. He barely won an election last time over an unknown and vastly underfunded competitor.
