RNC to run ads of Kerry/Dean and white flags...
Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 05:10 PM by ourbluenation

Got it off the freep board, who got it off the drudge so take it with a grain of salt. But if true...we BETTER have something ready to go.
***********************

The Republican National Committee will provide state parties with a web video prior to release tomorrow afternoon that shows a white flag waving over images of Democrat leaders making anti-war remarks.

The ad is in response to the controversial comments Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean and 2004 Democratic Presidential nominee John Kerry made earlier in the week.

The video highlights the effect Democrats can have on the morale of U.S. soldiers.

1. Ummm. Go to www.gop.com
It is real.

It's not a white flag - it is the GOP drying their white robes...

5. It's already running.
I just linked to it from Drudge. It shows a clip of Dean, Pelosi, and Kerry, all making various statements about the war. And then is shows a soldire watching them, and implies we're hurting morale.

It's lovely propoganda, and ignores the substance of all the remarks.

7. Is Bush in the ad? Here is the text.
Howard Dean: "The idea that we're going to win this war is an idea that unfortunately is just plain wrong." (Fox News' "Special Report With Brit Hume," 12/6/05)

Barbara Boxer: "So there's no specific timeframe but I would say the withdrawal ought to start now, right after the elections December 15th." (Fox News' "Fox News Sunday," 12/4/05)

John Kerry: "There is no reason Bob that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night terrorizing kids and children, you know, women." (CBS' "Face The Nation," 12/4/05)

Did Bush have any impact on troop morale with the following comment?

`I don't think you can win it' (3:40 into the video)

8. Its a pretty pitiful piece of propaganda/
Not well done, doesn't hit home any "repug points",

Do they really expect that to change anyone's mind? If anything, it should send more our way.

9. Wolfie and the human refrigerator played it, discussed it, and were
creaming over Dean's comments, and how they were splitting the dems.

after they played it, they let it run over and over and over in the background as they discussed it

part of it has a white flag waving over the dems as they speak

funny how they didn't play that clip of Bush last year saying to Matt Lauer that WE CAN't WIN in IRAQ, isn't it?

sure hope the dems come up with that one, when they answer

not holding breath

that clip was discussed here either yesterday or the day before

13. oh, yeah...Candy played clips of Reid responding to the ad
he reminded me of the guy in the original Mike Judge Office Space cartoons; the guy who kept getting his office moved around, and replied in the mousiest possible manner

he was as namby pamby as ANYbody I've ever seen in my life. I cringed while I watched

look for that one to be rerun again and again

Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 05:21 PM by K-W
its whether the centrists dems in washington take the bait.

The Republicans arent going to win any elections with jingoism as long as troops are dying in Iraq, they may however politically marginalize the anti-war/war critical position in the Democratic party by stigmatizing it.

Yep and SILENCING any discussion of an exit plan. Oppressors.

Sadly, many sheeple are susceptible to this type of propaganda.

15. Funny, just TWO WEEKS AGO they were showing clips of KERRY's PRO-WAR
statements when they were trying to say, "see they voted for the war too."

They are flip floping with the wind.

17. You all do realize that this is the desperate act of desperate men, I hope
The counter argument is so fucking easy. The commercials of fresh faced young men and women, in close up, speaking against the war, the camera pans back to show them in wheelchairs, with limbs missing, whatnot. The close shot of a woman, or a man (the more "heartland" in look, the better) and the camera pans back to reveal them sitting with a folded flag, or standing in front of a grave of a dead child. The young woman speaking against the war, and the camera pans back to show her holding an infant, with a photo of the dead father in uniform over her left shoulder. So many of these dead kids wrote letters home, saying, in effect that the war was fucked up. Those should be read to the camera, as well.

It's SO EASY. You hit them back with raw, resonating emotion.

These GOP kooks are totally nuts. This is not gonna fly for long. What were they thinking??? BIG MISTAKE...they've been trying to distract from the war, and now they are pulling this? Every single major incident that causes additonal deaths in Iraq is going to hit like a thud in the minds of the American population, and suggest that perhaps, despite all the carping, that those damn Democrats were RIGHT.

Major error in judgment on their part. MAJOR.

20. If I were John Kerry, my staff would be crucifying me for posting on these
here internets instead of doing the work of the people!!! And Theresa would be telling me to take out the trash and shovel the front steps!!!

I just am one of those folks who tries to see the long view, and grasp the big picture. I always start with the WHY of it all--why are they doing this, and why now? You don't bring up unpopular concepts or use veiled threats unless you are desperate, out of ideas, and these GOP asswipes are clearly getting desperate.

They cannot change the sentiment; all they have to do is look back to Vietnam. Once you lose them, they stay lost. Kiss the Silent Majority goodbye, GOP, because they've been replaced by a murmuring majority who oppose this foolish misadventure in the Middle East. It's up to us to give those murmuring mumblers an emotional gut-check that will cause them to pipe up and start vocalizing their dismay over the course of the nation's failed policies.
