Illinois residents -- your governor sounds kick-ass.
I was just listening to him on CSPAN talking about his new health care for all children bill.

Q: "Do you really think that Speaker Hastert will let a Durbin-Emanuel bill go through?"
A: "Am I naive? Why wouldn't he, if it's he right thing to do?"

:loveya: He's so cute. And he got the bill through! That rocks!

1. I mostly like him.
Although he does piss me off with his anti-video game crusade. I wish dems would just drop the whole censorship thing...

But yeah. The children's healthcare bill is AWESOME.

He was also one of the first governors to allow us to buy medication from Canada.

If he would just drop the idiotic crusade against video games, I would have nothing to complain about.

2. He's not so popular here.
Glad he sounded ok on Cspan. His health care plan is initiated now so he can talk about for his reelection, IMO. He has lost me in his apparent superficial interest in the citizens of Illinois.

I will vote for him but I am not too fond of him.

3. he needs an ass-kicking.
He probably is about to be indicted for bribes for jobs scandal. (his top officers had to donate 40K to his campaign in order to get the appointment.)

He has done everything with an eye for running a future presidential campaign - and I promise you that in a Illinois nomination race between Hillary, Clark, Dean, a dead toad, a petrified snail from the Paleozoic Era, a piece of Lasix-filled horse turd from Arlington Park Race Track, and Bloggo, I think the tightest race would be between the turd and Bloggo for last place.

He is the most unpopular gov I can recall, even more so than the guy who instituted state income taxes, even more than his GOP predecessor who is currently on trial for fraud, bribery and more.

Unfortunately, for the democratic party in Illinois, he also has strong-armed 20,000,000 in campaign funds - meaning that anyone who wants a real gov in office has to think twice.

What is really sad is how this came about. Here in Illinois, we have the house, the senate, the judiciary, AND Chicago. Yet, by any rational standard, having this Dem in office as governor has brought on nothing but petty spats and more trouble. He is more interested in headlines and self-promotion than doing the hard work that is sorely needed. He combs his hair more often than he checks on what his appointees are doing around the state. He has appointed some very untalented people who are best at pissing off the general population which cutting deals for friends. He looks more like Hastert and DeLay than a Dem.

The worst of it is, he will screw it up for our party even after the GOP self-destructed so thoroughly here. So sad, because there is so much to do.

4. Commuting from Chicago rather than moving to the capitol probably...
...doesn't make him many downstate friends, either. Thompson at least pretended to live in Springfield.

5. All of that AND
the fact he was given irrefutable proof of complete and utter corruption in the IDOC, which he ignores, to this day.
