A few years ago, I saw a documentary on PBS narrated by either Susan Sarandon or Julia Roberts that dealt with a special prison tucked away somewhere in America. It's not exactly a secret, but it was designed to hold "political prisoners;" in other words, terrorist collaborators and the like.
At least since the early 1980s, this prison has inflicted what appears to be psychological torture on its inmates in the form of sleep deprivation, sensory deprivation, etc. Everything is painted white, and prisoners are awakened every 30 minutes, even at night, no matter how exhausted or fatigued they are. They have adequate food and some access to legal counsel, but I think that's it.
I don't know if this is considered part of their sentence or if Federal interrogators are trying to squeeze any further info from them about collaborators or further schemes. I don't even remember the name of the prison or what state it's located in.
Can anyone help me here? Thanks.
