500-Pound Man Accused Of Fast-Food Scam
500-Pound Man Accused Of Fast-Food Scam

POSTED: 4:19 pm EST December 13, 2005
UPDATED: 4:32 pm EST December 13, 2005

A 500-pound man in Seminole County, Fla., was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of scamming fast-food restaurants out of large amounts of milk shakes and tacos, according to a Local 6 News report.

Investigators said George Jolicoeur, 33, would visit fast-food businesses and order food.

Jolicoeur would then call or visit the restaurants posing as a police officer or a firefighter and ask for a refund because there was a hair in his food, according to the report.

"He would come back and say, 'Oh, there is something wrong with it,'" Seminole County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Olson said. "There was a hair in my shake or there was a hair in my tacos. And, then he wants his money back."

"FAT RIGHTS" crowd....you should be able to be a 300 lb cop, protected under the ADA.

Everytime i hear obsese people and thier advocates (Tyra Banks) attempt to coopt the civil rights movement I just want to scream: "OBSESITY is a treatable medical condition"

RACE, GENDER, SEXUALITY, etc....are NOT.

13. Well there is Cushing's Syndrome
My doctor tried to put me on prednisone, but I I'd rather deal with inflammation and back pain than with a pendulous abdomen.

http://www.medhelp.org/www/nadf4.htm

General physical features include a tendency to gain weight, especially on the abdomen, face (moon face), neck and upper back (buffalo hump); thinning and weakness of the muscles of the upper arms and upper legs; thinning of the skin, with easy bruising and pink or purple stretch marks (striae) on the abdomen, thighs, breasts and shoulders; increased acne, facial hair growth, and scalp hair loss in women; sometimes a ruddy complexion on the face and neck; often a skin darkening (acanthosis) on the neck. Children will show obesity and poor growth in height.

18. Correct me if I'm wrong...
But Cushing's doesn't cause morbid obesity - the person may have a round face and store their fat more in the belly and waist BUT it doesn't cause someone to overeat or be 500 pounds, right?

17. Right.
And the ADA is irrelevant anyway. Someone in a wheelchair wouldn't be able to become a cop; if a job has physical standards that applicants are required to meet (in this case in the interest of public safety and job performance -- I can't picture a paraplegic or a 400-pound man chasing down a suspect), then the argument is moot.

And the "fat acceptance" movement is ridiculous anyway. A combination of sedentary lifestyles and overeating of high-calorie foods (both more common than not in these United States) have led to half the population being overweight, and half of THOSE being obese...but the fact that it's a common condition DOESN'T mean it merits special consideration or acceptance. Nor does it mean that it's any less unhealthy. Might as well try to argue that smoking is good for you.

5. I wonder if the tons of McDonalds food had anything to do
with the 500 pounds? No, <political correctness hat on> of course not, this man is likely just a poor victim of a genectic abnormality.
