A funny story about Bush bashing - at work the other day...

OK, I work at an electronics store as a salesperson. Well the other day, I'm helping this older man find a TV. As we're discussing one of the TVs, an ad comes on for Good Morning America or one of those morning shows. The man looks and says, "wow, Diane Sawyer and the other guy (forgot his name) look great on this TV".

Well, aa minute later, they have flash of Bush on the TV (yuck!) basically as an ad for news shows...Then the guy starts asking, "who is thta guy. I thhink I know who he is." Obviously I could gather he wasn't happy.

Then all of a sudden he says "We ought to get rid of that warmongerer" (except instead of saying 'getting rid of' he expressed using violence (something which honestly stunned me).

Well, I'm standing there shocked because politics has never come up at work. It's not the kind of place where it would...

But it amused me nevertheless.

two elderly guys were into it over bush* - I thought they were going to start pounding each other

First guy was grousing about gas prices

Second guy says - don't blame me I voted for Kerry

1st guy: well, I think bush is the greatest president

2nd guy: WHAAAATTT??? are you nuts???

1st guy: Yeah, he kicked saddam's butt

2nd guy: and look where that got us - stuck in a war

1st guy: it's not a war it's an insurgency ...

----at that point the 1st guy sticks his foot in his mouth---

1st guy: it's not a war it's an insurgency ... and you can't win against an insurgency

2nd guy: then what the hell are we doing there if we can't win?

the two guys were then out of my hearing range....

other night. Working class kinda' guy (don't know what he does, but saw him hand painting the windows at IHOP with Happy Holidays and a Santa/snowman motif--very cool to watch). Must have been in his 60's at least. He's wearing a Texas Longhorns hat. So he says "Merry Christmas, and if you won't say merry Christmas, you won't get a drink." So I'm thinking, ugh, a "war on xmas" puke. THEN he says: "And vote Democrat next time, because the republicans have f*cked everything up!"

It was a really pleasant surprise!

Good to see you. I'm an appraiser. Part of my job is going into people's homes and sketching the interiors, and making note of interior upgrades. The day the indictment against Scooter came down, I walked into a man's house where he had CNN cranked up loud...like one would do if they're not in the room but don't want to miss anything. I was sketching and then I stood there and listened for a minute. He looked at me and said,"About damned time, eh"...I never say anything unless given the opportunity like this guy gave me. We had a great discussion. :hi:
