Condi, women in America want to keep their rights too.
God, I just want to scream every time I hear one of these people get up on their soapboxes about how they are working so hard for women to have rights in the Islamic countries while they and their supporters are ACTIVELY working to have the rights of American women reduced. Shoot, some of the supporters of this administration would have rights take away for everything from the proverbial abortion rights to making birth control itself illegal and some have even voiced that the right to vote for women is the source of all woes. Others would choose to exclude women from opportunities in education and employment. We have a group of fundamentalists who preach that the woman should be subservient to the man in all things. I believe that women's groups need to stand up and DEMAND that * and prominent R leaders condemn this type of thinking. Put it out there, instead of letting it simmer at the edges.

1. I read someplace that
one of the war mongers said that democracy in Iraq that approached the level of what it was here in the US in 1900 would be the best thing for that country.

2. By "rights" they mean the right to be a fundie.
Seems to me that is what they mean.

4. We should be grateful they're not targeting
our genitalia with a scalpel. (That's about all that's left.)

5. But Iraq wasn't anti-woman until AFTER we invaded
Only after the invasion is it poised to become another fundie theocracy. It was one of the only secular Arab states in the region. Now look at it.

I know several right wingers who are crowing about increased women's rights but they only crowing about giving back what was taken from them thanks to our invasion.
