Regarding Bush Speech on Monday.
After the speech that Bush made on Monday, a person in the crowd asked him how many Iraqi casualties there were in the war. Bush cavalierly answered that there were about 30,000. I thought that was a real shitty way he answered the question. Anyone else catch that?

3. Indeed, I believe he was going for "solemn".

It was pretty painful to watch, expecially when you know that his real answer is "Hell if I know, we told all you press sissies we wasn't gonna keep count."

2. well joejoe, it just proved how really out of touch he is.
My feeling is that if he is going around admitting to reading a newspaper, "not every story" as he said, its too late to change the public perception. Too bad its taken 5 long years.

4. This is another example of the failed media
This story is HUGH, and yet the media allowed it to die with the White House spin: "It is not an official count, he heard it from the media."

Has the media ever questioned that statement? Where was that ever reported in the media? From which media sourse did he get that number?

Why is there only superficial reporting on this?

6. I wasn't so much referring to the number,
as the way he so casually said it. It was clearly a bullshit answer, as if he couldn't care less, and he wanted to move away from it very quickly.
