What exactly is the Republican take on Christianity?
It sure isn't "Thou shalt not kill" or "Love thy neighbor." It seems to be "God is a Republican and Bush is His Prophet and anyone who isn't white Christian and straight is going to hell and our whole purpose on Earth is to persecute gays." What do you think?

14. Pick 3 Commandments that fit your lifestyle...
And ignore the new testament.

3. God's kind of like a doctor
you tell him what you need to do, and he writes the prescription to make it A-OK.

4. Repukes are using Christians
The Bush cartel doesn't really care about outlawing abortion, or anything else that the religious right wants. They are just saying what stupid people want to hear, so that said stupid people will vote for them.

7. The think they own it. Just like Patriotism. Just like Morality
In fact they don't practice what they preach, as a rule.

8. Jesus loves the rich and hates the poor.
Jesus loves war, loves killing, hates Jews and non Christians (even though he was a Jew). Jesus loves money and arrogance. Humble, honest people make Jesus sick.

9. The average Republican so-called Christian ...
... wouldn't know Jesus if he walked up to them on the street and kicked them in the ass.

On a further note, were Jesus to come back tomorrow, kicking these people in the ass would probably be number one on his 'Things To Do' list.

11. It's a title they use in describing themselves so that others think
better of them. It's like belonging to the Elks or something. Really has little meaning in their lives as they will continue to lie, cheat, and ignore those less fortunate than themselves.

12. It's a rather pure form of Calvinism
that states we are all predestined to be either rich or poor, that god smiles upon the rich and favors them, while god despises the poor for their criminal impulses and punishes them by keeping them poor. It's a doctrine that says that the rich only need faith to get into heaven, that they need not trouble themselves with any of Christ's words about giving to the poor, visiting the sick and imprisoned, or loving their neighbors. If they believe, it's a ticket to paradise without all that sissy stuff along the way.

It's always been an appealing philosophy for the haves, and probably predates Calvin to the divine right kings of Europe.

13. That's not the "Republican" take on Christianity.
That's the extreme right-wing fundamentalist Christian view of Christianity. They are certainly very vocal, but they don't make up the entire Republican party.

I know Republicans that are not overly religious; I even know some who are atheists. I also know more than a few who are disgusted with Bush and what has happened to the Republican party.
