1. One amusing aspect of Clinton-bashing is that there REALLY IS a
powerful case to be made against him. It's just that that case should be made attacking him from the left, not from the right. I have a fair amount of sympathy with the argument that the only problem with Clinton's impeachment is that the wrong people impeached him, for the wrong reasons.

10. I believe this
paper illustrates the effects of special interests over our government quite well, more that it indicts Bill Clinton. As wtmusic observed, I didn't see anything illegal committed by Clinto, just that the writers of this paper disagreed with this course of action as U.S. policy.

I believe there are a multitude of examples of corporate special interests taking precedence over American national security. Especially where the defense contracting and arms production industries are concerned.

Bill Clinton has been villified by conservatives for transferring technology to China that they say makes it easier for them to target us with their missiles, but what they don't tell us is that these programs began under the Reagan and Bush I administrations at the behest of industies that were salivating at the chance to partner with China and produce cheaper methods of launching sattelites into space for communications, weather prediction etc...

So, it may be true that the technology transfers may have decreased our security, but it is always at the urging of those in power and those who have the most to gain financially. Bill Clinton simply continued this well established practice. I do agree that this is one reason that Bill Clinton was no liberal, but rather a pretty obvious moderate, but I see no impeachable offense outlined in this paper.

12. Don't forget, we had American companies doing business with the Nazis
during World War II. Government must have known about it and turned a blind eye. Not saying two wrongs make a right here, but economics have always trumped national security, not to mention human rights.

14. 'Economics'? I'd call it 'greed', plain old greed
But I agree with your thesis in general

6. Clinton did some good things and he did some bad things
Demonizing him from either side is pointless, which I think if the jist of this cartoon. Let's move on.

8. The more you learn about presidents, the more morally ambiguous
they become. Rotten presidents do good things and good presidents do rotten things. Most adults realize that.

11. Bush has done a good thing?
I have to think really hard about it.

;-)

Not a big fan of the Clintons, because I don't compartmentalize their celebrity with their record. Having said that, I do hope they move aside and allow someone else to make their own mistakes. They got way more then 15 minutes and shouldn't be too greedy.

;-)

13. You've got a valid point there
Forgot to add that to my little blurb: Bush may well prove the exception among American presidents. Scary, eh? Even Warren Harding and Grant managed a few bright spots.

9. Bill Clinton was probably our most effective modern president
because he seemed to work more with both sides of the aisle than any other modern president. It pisses off people on both sides of the aisle many of his proposals because he couldn't be pidgeonholed as either a liberal or a conservative. IMHO
