Poll question: Civil Liberties or Less Safe
Now this isn't necessarily an argument I even give a second thought too.

I believe that we are less safe as a democracy if we give away our liberties. But many Americans believe that it is ok to give their liberties away to be safe. I believe they are willing to do this because they don't believe the gov't would ever be abusive to individual citizens. Which in my opinion is very naieve.

Which is more dangerous to this country?

1. What's the point of being "safe" if we have no liberties?
If in "protecting" something, you change the basic character of the thing you're trying to protect have you accomplished anything?

4. Ben Franklin answerd your poll decades ago with the following:
"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both."
