Poll question: Have you ever hesitated posting something here for fear of bushco snooping
If so, do you remember what it was?

I have, I know, but I can't remember what it was.

I will gladly say this now, tho - fuck bush and his whole traitorous gang.

America is better than these bastards.

6. Yes I have. I learned a very long time ago...
you can say ANYTHING, but you never write it down! Posting my true thoughts here is akin to publishing a book! I don't drown my feelings in sugar, but I sure wouldn't post anything that will get the SS at my door either!

8. Yeah, my worry was whether or not I was publicly ready
Edited on Sat Dec-17-05 11:56 PM by Poet Lariat
to say "Fuck Bush" on a national political forum.

...short pause...

Not worried anymore. Fuck Bush.

Edit for the SS...statement above is my general feeling about the current president and should not to be construed in any other way. Remember that freedom of speech is a fundamental right of the citizens of this country. If that freedom has been eliminated through some new program devised by your boss, please let me know.

34. I found the book Junkie...
...very instructive in mine and a friend's attempts to help heroin junkies in the late seventies. We had a two prong approach of talk (me) and accupuncture (my friend). We had some success. Junkie provided some insight into the inner life of our patients.

23. Yes, for only a moment. Then I felt Ben Franklin's hand squeeze...
...my shoulder. I looked back and it was then not Franklin at all but some young boy who was blown to tiny pieces on Omaha beach. Then some black woman in a beautiful handmade dress torn almost off her torso by one of Crowe's dogs. Countless others, famous and unknown who had given so much for this country ending with my patriarch, Thomas Paine. In his nod to me I heard part of the opening of his "The American Crisis":

"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands now, deserves the thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap we esteem too lightly; it is dearness only that gives everything its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as freedom should not be highly rated."

I blushed and my ears reddened at my temporary cowardice but recalled that all patriots do what they fear, but continue on their path because they know that what they do is right and true and in Liberty's name. We owe a debt to all those who fought before us so that the untold millions yet to be born will be born without knowing the yoke of tyranny around their necks.

39. in the beginning I thought about it a little but not now.......
....the internet isn't really anonymous, people can still find you if they really want to.......despite the myth that people on the internet are anonymous.

Several yrs ago, I began to answer polls and visit anti-Bush websites and have also sent messages to my local representatvies and Senators about my disagreements with their policies.

When I first started doing this, it occured to me that they could find me if they really wanted to. And at first, it did give me pause......I don't trust this govt and I certainly know that they could come and get anyone of us at any time. And probably for no reason at all!

Now that I've been doing this, I don't even think about it anymore. I figure if they really believe I'm an enemy of the state, it's too late now!

And about the secret surveillance of American citizens, let me add one more thing. We won't know who they've been spying on until they come to drag us down to Gitmo. So if any of your friends suddenly disappear without reason, that should be a red flag! If any of us knows at any time that someone has been a victim of this surveillance, they may have a right to sue the govt since it is a direct violation of the constitution!

I'm just saying we should all be aware.........if someone suddenly is not there anymore, we should find out what happened to them.
