I don't know who they are
Saying I can't greet the crowd
The way that I want to
Can't say CHRISTMAS out loud.

I walk into a business place
See things that I rather not see
But dare I not say CHRISTMAS
And ask for a "holiday" tree.

What happened to freedom of speech
And living in the land of the free
How can they take my CHRISTMAS money
But can't say MERRY CHRISTMAS to me.

Men and women have given their lives
So we could still go free
I wonder how they would feel
At saying "HOLIDAY" TREE.

Come on AMERICA let's wake up
Don't let our freedom escape
If they get by with doing this
What else will they take.

This is starting to get out of hand,
And I've begun to keep track
Well I've just about had enough
I'M TAKING CHRISTMAS BACK.

So MERRY CHRISTMAS AMERICA
I hope this gets all over the net
If we all stand united and take freedom back
'Twill be our best CHRISTMAS YET!

Here are some of my favorite parts:

Uh, I think they'd feel like we were exercising the FREEDOM OF SPEECH they have given their lives FOR.

This part made me laugh at first, then pissed me off:

"What happened to freedom of speech

What happened to freedom of speech... I'll tell you what happened... Those who want to say "Merry Christmas" are the only ones entitled to it and those who want to say "Happy Holidays" had better shut their holes.

I have YET to hear of one private citizen being told outside of the confines of their job that they can't or shouldn't say Merry Christmas, as this lovely poem implies.

What a load of shit.

It's official- Even if Christmas weren't already difficult for us this year due to a family tragedy, this "War on Christmas" shit would have single handedly KILLED my Christmas spirit.

Every piece of that rant is gold, but for me, that line takes the cake.

Happy holidays (holy days) is the inclusive way to go. The rabid right wingers can hit their heads all day long insisting 12/25 is a Christian day. I think Christ would be shamed by their rabidism.

More whiny Bill O'Reilly type crap. Turns the supposed idea of the season into self-centered political braying.

They should be slapped.

The saddest thing is that this came from someone I previously thought to be a reasonable and kind human being.

The way otherwise nice, normal people are buying into these bullshit chain emails kills me.

A couple of years ago, a similar thing happened with a different friend and an email about Hillary and the Black Panthers (you know the one). I very calmly directed the person to Snopes and never heard from her again. I hear now that apparently she realized I wasn't the right "kind of person" to hang around with because I debunked her little Hillary email. This is someone I had thought to be a really kind, good person until that happened.

I wish for a more innocent time- You know, when wingnuts were wingnuts and normal people were just normal people and rolled their eyes at the nuts. Now the "normal people" are joining right in.

If you want to say something I don't want to hear, you are wrong and it should not be allowed because you are limiting my freedom to hear what I want so there. Happy open-minded holidays.

"War on Christmas." They keep SAYING they can't say "Merry Christmas" to people - and yet I have not heard one REAL account of that. And if these people are so weak-willed, so dependent on needing everyone else to say exactly the same thing as they do, then they don't have the strength to defend their own freedom. What insecure, ridiculous cartoon characters.

Poetry is not your strong suit.

They have become Grinches to themselves. They're so angry and outraged, just looking for a reason to feel slighted and aggrieved, that they have sucked all the joy and fun from their own holiday. Too damn bad for them; let 'em choke on their own bile.

But I'm not going to let them blight my Christmas. I've got my tree and my decorations; I'm going to buy a few presents for my family, and I'm going to enjoy Christmas. And that will be easy for me because I won't get angry if somebody at the mall says Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas.

I too, have a tree and celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday because that's how I was raised but wouldn't think of pressing my views on others. If people want to say happy pink polka dot day - so be it. Why is it that it's a section of whacked out Christians who are the ones who are more angry about the way a greeting is phrased than the sentiment behind it?

This morning, while eating breakfast at a hotel in San Diego, the news had a segment about a husband and wife who have a campaign to push the Merry Christmas verbiage. They are selling bracelets with their slogan on it - how very Christian to use the birth of Christ to make money. Somewhat hypocritical I thought. They also mentioned they had a small Christian book store and 9 children. Surprised?

And sick. Jesus would be so proud.

Oh, and have a happy corporate Holiday, spend spend spend, the three wise men came upon a manger to find a child, the lord, however, having invested in long term ventures the wise men did not have the assets to present a gift. 'That a boy, one day you will be the king of kings, maybe even the king of Walmart." A christian Holiday, with a christian president which supports big business and the push for the commercialization of christmas. Who is the enemy again. Oh, those liberals which seek to be all inclusive in the Holiday cheer respecting the beliefs of, jews, christians, muslims, believers and non-believers. Yep, we are the enemy.
