Let me get this straight
Bush can spy on us for national security reasons but he can't find a breach of national security when it happens right under his nose and there is a set number of suspects among his own closed circle of trusted advisers.

You know, in a weird way, this does explain why the DoD were going after those "rough and rowdy" Quakers. Those clowns in the WH can't spot the proverbial elephant in the room much less comprehend a difference between the real constitutional freedoms their so-called policies are eradicating and the imaginary "freedoms" Bush espouses as part of his brainwashing rhetoric to encourage people to go shopping. They probably spent millions of dollars and used thousands of manhours to watch innocent Americans in lawful assemblies (in houses of worship!-how Christian is that?) while hurricane survivors wonder what their futures hold and worry about where they will live and eat. In the meantime they tout a victory because elections were held in Iraq! What heppened to their original justification for going to war in Iraq? Sometimes my head just wants to explode.

I have an idea. Maybe we should have the DoD help Fitzgerald investigate Plamegate since they're so good at ferreting out suspected "enemies" in America. Let the DoD investigate the real danger to our national security - the Bush pResidency. In fact, I'd like to see the DoD monitor a few more of the phone calls to and from the White House as well as place a few of the Bush administration under surveillance and do a little less monitoring and surveillance on real Americans.

2. Better yet -- let's have Fitz investigate the DOD
the rendition program, and the supposed "black" intelligence unit at the DOD which is to replace the CIA.

4. these people define patriotism as absence of dissent
and blind acquiescence. That's fundamentally unAmerican; we were founded on the Enlightenment principles of conscious autonomous human beings who deliberately choose to partake of a political system and decide (implying rational activity) what policies to support and implement. As long as this crowd of primitive boneheads is defining what aids US security, we will never win the war on terrorism. When "don't rock the boat" is your priority, you don't make headway in rough seas.

14. And now-thanks to you, they know that I'm watching them watch me watch them
It's the absurdity of it all, the transparency of their indiscretions, that gets my knickers in a knot. They more they bitch about something (national security) or deny an activity (torture) the more you can be sure that they're up to no good and are finding new ways to abrogate our real constitutionally guaranteed freedoms. And they've done it all along. Bush would talk about how wonderful a program was and then cut its funding. It's the part of the "heckuva job Brown"-opposite speak.

The good news is that their desperation is really beginning to show with their redefinition of the terrorists, I mean insurgents, I mean the "enemies of the legitimate Iraqi government" or is there a new one I missed? Not to mention that, as I now understand it, we apparently we went to war in Iraq so people could have elections that will represent the Iraqi populace as much as possible while they control the media in attempts to alienate the American populace from participating in elections here and purposefully disenfranchising legitimate American voters.

Whatever happened with that Osma fellow?

15. We know that nat. security is trumped by politics, a la Plame
We know that Bush will ignore national security when one of his guys is the perp. How different is it to use nat. security to go after political enemies? All that is really clear is the politics of the person. Everything else, so murkey, so undefined, so.....top secret.
