Just because something is unlikely to happen doesn't mean we shouldn't fight for/against it. Feingold sets an example of how sticking up for our principles can have amazing effects.

"We killed the Patriot Act." - Reid

Just because Impeachment is unlikely to happen doesn't mean we are wrong to demand it. We should demand what we believe should happen, loud and clear.

2. Down but not out
This is already a attack talking point for next fall. The assumption is that it can help spur voters to elected fillibuster-proof majorities in both houses of Congress.

5. oooo, I am shaking in my boots!
:sarcasm:

There was a collective sigh of relief from every single person I told about the Patriot Act going down.

3. May I remind you, it's ALIVE until 12/31. a lot of mischief can occur
between then and now.

Remember the ANWR drilling crap they tried to pull. Some in the GOP are so evil, that anything can and might happen.
Eternal vigilance. That is what we need.

6. "It's alive, ALIVE"
It's only certain provisions of the Act that will expire on 12/31/2005. The rest of the Act lives on. And more, the expired provisions can be re-enacted at any time. Eternal vigilance, indeed.

7. The Senate already passed a different version
Supported by Feingold, the ACLU and other civil rights groups. Most of the Patriot Act is contained in that version, the House and Senate will come up with a compromise version early next year.
