What will you do?
If in tonight's "speech", b*sh declares the following:

"Effective immediately, I am declaring martial law in this nation.
I am abolishing congress.
I am limiting the powers of the court.
I am taking total control of the nation's military forces.
I am restricting free speech.

I do this all in the name of national security, to keep the people safe."

What will you do?

3. Our milittary is spread out all over the world and probably wouldn't suppo
him anyway. He will have a hell of a time implementing martial law in a nation as big as this with so many people with guns.

Bush is our biggest enemy and we should never forget that.

11. I disagree.
Bush the man is NOT our biggest enemy. Our biggest enemy is the corrupt structures of power that put him in office and has kept him there into his second term. It isn't the man, it is that which he represents.

If we imagine a nation’s leader being impeached, forced to
resign, or otherwise driven from office, yet the corrupt and exploitative power structure is
left intact, this is not revolution; for no matter how hated the fallen leader may have been,
the balance of power in the relationship between the People and the government will
remain unchanged. It is only when this balance has shifted that we may rightfully call it
revolution. Since we currently have no say in elections, in influencing changes in
leadership, revolution can be no less than restoring the franchise. In this way, peaceful
revolution is not grandiose; it is the least we can do!

15. I agree, but GWB is the operational embodiment of that structure that
allowed this to happen.

Absolutely, Bush is the tip of the iceberg and there is much work to be done to be sure the structure is changed to support the democratic principles this nation is built on. Until the corporate influence is reigned in, making any substantive changes will be next to impossible.

Have a good evening,

7. yes laugh and break out some champaign
because it would be the last day he was in office. Even the Freeps are split on him now...and our VOLUNTEER military isn't nearly as lockstep as he would wish they are. The National Guard left in my state isn't going to get it done for him. Maybe in Alabama or some place like that? Naaaah not after Katrina.

8. Abide by the rules.
Edited on Sun Dec-18-05 07:01 PM by HypnoToad
I may be a loudmouth on the internet, but when push comes to shove, I am far more a coward than even I like to believe.

(Fortunately, free speech about the government's actions is still allowable.)

And as for the other type of pushing and shoving, I'd give up men if I had to too. /badjoke

12. remain calm and be good
For 32 days, at least. In 32 days I am moving to Korea (husband is military and he's been there for almost a year already). Maybe I can escape once I am there! I will sing "Climb every mountain, ford every stream, follow every rainbow, till you find your dream" while I and my cats escape on foot to... North Korea. Dang, that won't work.

Then I'd probably head for whichever group is organizing in the nearby city and stand up for myself and my family...
