Why do Republicans get away with EVERYTHING?
They have the nation and the world by the balls and think they rule by divine right. If Clinton had pulled even .0000000001% of what Bush has done, not only would he not be president, he would most likely not be alive. Likewise, if Bush had gotten a blowjob and lied about it, he would have just recieved praise for his manliness. They control every aspect of this country and still want more power and claim that they are above reproach because God is a Republican and is on their side. Is there no limit to their arrogance? Is there ANYTHING they can do and not get away with? Why, despite their moral bankrupcy, utter ruthlessness and disregard for human life, and the pure hatred and evil that oozes out of their pores, does the system have to be rigged in favor of them ALL THE TIME?

7. And it looks as if Frist has crossed another ethical boundry...
A charity that paid massive consulting fees to friends and contributors and recieved donations from several corporations that had business before the senate... Eli-Lilly and Blue Cross....

6. It is very simple.....
The Democrats look at politics as a honorable vocation...

The GOP looks at politics as an avocation....

So Democrats depend on politics as a means to make a living... They are less likely to jeopardize a career by taking controversial stands...

The GOP has a massive private infrastructure to hire pols in waiting and pols who have been defeated...

Think about it... When was the last time a democrat came up with a bold policy... The GOP always takes stands that, even though we, as sane people, think are bizarro, makes them look like the party with an agenda, a plan, sizzle....

Look at all the think tanks they have... they have a private sector infrastructure that the dems do not have....

This is what the DLC was suppose to do... Provide a private sector haven for democrats out of office...

8. Murdoch, Viacom, GE, Time-Warner, Clear Channel, Sinclair, Disney...
they OWN the media. Without the media holding them accountable, we are SCREWED. Look at what the NYT has done. They handed the 2004 election to the idiot because they held the spy story. That's the media's JOB....to hold the government accountable and they don't do that anymore. The corporations own the media, the corporate lobbyists BUY the government with favorable coverage/playing ignorant/ignoring stories... in exchange for tax cuts and other perks. No media, no justice.

Guess what page the spy story was on in my local paper????........A FUCKING 19!!! A19!! I'm ready to cancel them again. The president has broken the law by spying on US citizens and that ends up on page 19????? It's pathetic, really.

13. If it's any consolation, presidential spying made page 1 of mine
Above the fold and just below the headline story "President's top fund raisers reap the spoils of victory".
The Frist story was prominent on page four.

So there is some hope. Your paper really does suck, though.

9. same with the ultra right post 1918 germany, or in pre'39 france
...it's always been the same. the rightwing gets away with everything because of an inherent flaw in the human being: appearances are deceptive, and power corrupts...the social activist has to share the stage in front of the public with the fascisti, while no fascisti ever shares his stage in front of the ruling wealthy, with any social activist...by nature, the leftwing message is spiked by neocons who claim to be leftists creating confusion, while the rightwing is free of this (michael moore might well get murdered addressing a gulf and western shareholder meet!)

12. because they've deconditioned themselves to lie without restraint
and no one calls them liars. We by contrast still have compunctions about lying (nothing wrong with those) but don't kick the shit out of them for doing it. The revolution is not a f*ing tea party, and it will not be televised.

14. Why? No power in Congress to have official hearings. Corporate-controlled
media prevents the news from getting out. In essence, they control the government and the mainstream media.
