Check out Congresswoman canidate Tammy Duckworth
You can see her interview on "This Week" at http://www.crooksandliars.com on down the page. It's a nice interview. Some things I don't agree with what she said. Mostly how the Iraqi's voting is going to be good for them. I don't call an Islamic religious theocracy very good. Especially some things I've heard from their Constiution. Such as if a woman is found to have had an affair she could be stoned and made an example of and Iraqi's can't sue corporations (such as Haliburton). But none the less I think, from her interview, she would make a fine Congresswoman and hope she is successful. And yes she is running as a democrat.

2. That's what I think too
It's purely an Islamic religious theocracy. And these "elections" are a sham. That's the only thing I don't like about all this. The whole fake idea that George Bush is "bringing" them democracy.

4. Christine Cegelis is the one
Tammy Duckworth can't win this seat, but Cegelis can. Cegelis pulled 44% against a 30 year incumbent with little money in 2004, not that it's open she can win it.

5. Christine Has Worked For Years For This Seat
Sorry, Rahm...leave you mitts off the suburbs!!!!

The last thing this district, that was the province of Henry Hyde for ages, and hasn't had a Democratic Representative in the 40 plus years I can recall. In 2004, Cegalis polled 45%...without as much help from the DNC or DCCC. She's developed a local network and has helped to create a party that didn't exist several years ago, and now someone wants to drop in a challenger and ruin all that work? Foolish, counterproductive and could snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I'm in the district over...and we had a similar situation in 2000, 2002 and 2004...our local candidate went up against an incumbent and through a lot of hard work by a lot of local Democrats and Independents, this seat was the only one to switch from Repugnican to Democrat in 2004. We're working our asses off here right now, since the GOOP wants these seats bad...they're in Dennis Hastert's backyard. In my district the GOOPie already is on TV with ads and is spending money like he's a DeLay Repugnican (which he is). There's a similar Hyde "protege" all set to go in the 6th. There won't be a primary fight there.

The DCCC needs to focus on the many other races that really need help...still don't have candidates or helping candidates who are having money and other problems.

Go Christine Cegalis!!!!

6. This is a thread about Mrs. Ducksworth
This is the first I've heard of her so I was just posting about her. You can start your own thread. I don't vote in Illionis so I just like to check out all the canidates. The people in the end have the say in who their canidate is and that's how it should be.

7. Cegalis Is Running In That District
I'd do some investigating before you post. There are a lot of Democrats in Mrs. Duckworth's district who have worked for years for Ms. Cegalis and feel the rug is being pulled out from under her. I'm not the only one posting this here.

Yes, the people in the district have the say in who their candidate should be...that's what I'm supporting, I would hope you would do the same, too. It'd be a shame to lose a possible pick-up next year, splinter a growing local Democratic party and give the seat to the Repugnicans.
