Gonzales lying now on MSNBC.
He says the Coward's legal authority for this domestic spying was congress' authorization of use of force.

But the spying began long BEFORE the IWR, did it not?

8. Even with that authority, Bush still does NOT have the right to
break the law and violate his oath of office.

when you are in a hole stop digging. more lying just makes it worse, at some point an apology won't work.
Me thinks they have passed that point, I hope.

10. Then why did BushCO go to the FISA court...
...in some cases, but not all? Why didn't he ignore FISA 100% of the time? If he thought the IWR gave him the authority, then why did he sometimes act like he knew it didn't?

13. Congress may pass all the "Acts" and "Laws" they want. They do NOT....
trump the United States Constitution and spying on Americans w/o going through the legal system and getting the proper LEGAL approval is unCONSTITUTIONAL no matter what "permission" some dim witted politicians think they have.

14. Bush's houseboy..
He has spent his entire legal career figuring out how to "make things legal" for the BFEE. His only expertise is in getting around statutes. This is what he did in Texas, this is what he did about torture, and this is what he is doing now.

they are incompetent liars!

geeeessshhh....

They've had only 3-1/2 to 4 years to destroy the educational system but that's not enough time to dumb down America enough to believe the stupid crap this administration is spewing!

17. What FISA (50 USC 1811) Says ...
Edited on Mon Dec-19-05 09:35 AM by TahitiNut
Here's what 50 USC 1811 says ...
Section 1811. Authorization during time of war

Notwithstanding any other law, the President, through the Attorney General, may authorize electronic surveillance without a court order under this subchapter to acquire foreign intelligence information for a period not to exceed fifteen calendar days following a declaration of war by the Congress.

It must be noted that this statute is very specific. It doesn't make the (now) vague reference to "state of war" or "wartime" or "at war." It specifically requires "a declaration of war by the Congress" to bypass a court order! It even then limits such surveillance to fifteen days!

These people are lying through their teeth, completely fabricating a legal 'reality' that just does not exist.

19. There was no declaration of war by Congress....
therefore no authorization, even for 15 days!

20. Exactly. That's the 'due process' defined, as required by the Constitution
In abrogating due process, the Bushoilini Regime has deliberately and consciously violated the Constitution.
