HOLD EVERYTHING!!! "the Constitution is nothing but a GODDAMN piece of
paper!" NOW that bastard is trying to say that Article II of the "GODDAMN piece of paper" gives him the "right" to spy on U.S. citizens? Which is it chimpy? It's either useless or it's the law of the land.

He's trying to say that because we are at WAR he can do anything he damn well pleases? PROBLEM IS...the SOB never got a DECLARATION OF WAR FROM CONGRESS. The IWR IS NOT a DECLARATION OF WAR. It's a resolution to fight TERRA..... He's Finished!

5. True... UNLESS we can get the Dems in the majority in '06. We MUST do
all we can to make that happen so we can expose all the high crimes, manipulation. BS, etc that Bush and the neo-CONs have perpetrated on the very people and Constititution they have SWORN to defend. Then hopefully we can impeach these CRIMINALS and kick all the cronies OUT.

2. Not this again.
This quote has been gone over again and again. It is from a Capitol Hill Blue report, and that site is generally considered unreliable. They report detailed quotes that never get picked up by any other site or paper. Many are inclined to believe he is making it up. I am one of them.

Every time it comes up, it starts a flame war between people who seem to want to believe him, and people who are waiting for anybody else to substantiate these quotes. The entire liberal blogosphere would like nothing more than to be able to trumpet these quotes to the world. The fact that none of our reputable journalists have reported this stuff leads me and a lot of others to believe that it can't be backed up, and that CHB, as suspected, is making the shit up.

3. I heard Ray T. on KGO this morning say "Shrub said that."
He didn't say where he got the info, and maybe it was from CHB, I don't know. I'm a bit surprised that he would just pick that up from a single web site though.

6. CHB is where.
Until a reputable journalist substantiates it, I'm not buying it.

And that's not to say that Bush doesn't feel this way, because all of his actions imply that he believes it is nothing but a goddamned piece of paper.

But I'm waiting for someone with a reputation and actual journalist credentials to report it.

8. Do you really think the 3 people he talked to will go on the record?
“I’ve talked to three people present for the meeting that day and they all confirm that the President of the United States called the Constitution ‘a goddamned piece of paper.’” Thompson adds.

I believe his story ESPECIALLY in light of this illegal spying crap.

9. They don't have to go on the record.
I'll take an unnamed source from someone at the Nation, or even Raw Story or DailyKos over three unnamed sources from CHB.

4. Bush's "piece of paper" comment is significant.
http://www.counterpunch.org/leupp12142005.html

"Stop throwing the Constitution in my face! It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"

This sums up Bush's view of the Constitution he is sworn to uphold, and by extension of America, the once-great country he is in the process of destroying.

How can any American president have the attitude expressed in this remark?

7. And the next quote from your story is:
"I don't know how credible this report is, of course, but let's suppose it's true. It has the ring of truth, it seems to me, given numerous earlier reports on the Commander-in-Chief's state of mind and penchant for profanity. (Capital Hill Blue has earlier noted his "short temper and tirades" during cabinet meetings. Thompson and Teresa Hampton, citing "a number of White House staffers" wrote in June 2004 that " who says he rules at the behest of God can also tongue-lash those he perceives as disloyal, calling them 'fucking assholes' in front of other staff, berating one cabinet official in front of others." The Drudge Report has carried similar stories. The most recent Newsweek contains a report that Rice has to warn foreign diplomats, "Don't upset him" before meeting the Chief.) The man told Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas in 2003 that "God told me to smite . And I smote him." Why should a man who conducts such conversations care about a document which makes no reference to God?"
