12. Duh, but he's spying on Amurricuns, so this should plz the terrorists
right? Bcs now they know they're not being spied on. I still don't get it. Is Bush claiming that American citizens need to be spied on bcs they are helping out the terrorists? He's dancing all around this, w/o wanting to accuse American citizens directly. I suppose that will be next. How long til the first regular American citizen is trundled out and accused of doing something to help the terrorists?

13. Yes. He's saying Americans are terrorists and
that foreign AND domestic terrorists are here and he has every right to spy on them. The TRUTH is...he's spying on his political enemies and didn't want a paper trail. Otherwise he would have gone through FISA courts and chose to break the law instead.

The Latest on ECHELON
ECHELON on 60 Minutes Sunday 2/27/00
Be sure to watch the 60 Minutes segment on ECHELON this Sunday. Former spy Mike Frost is interviewed by Steve Kroft. Don't miss this one!
NSA Refuses Order From Congress

The NSA recently asserted attorney-client privilege to block the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence from obtaining documents it requested. Congressman Bob Barr (GA-7) noted in an article in Insight Magazine, "While this argument carries absolutely no legal weight, the fact the NSA made it in the first place is a definite warning sign that something is wrong." In response, Barr and Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK) have added an amendment to the Foreign Intelligence Authorization bill (H.R. 1555, Sec. 309), that will require the Intelligence Community to report within 60 days on the precise legal standards it uses when communications involving American citizens are intercepted.
At the same time, the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) has filed a suit in federal court seeking a court order for the release of controversial documents concerning potential government surveillance of American citizens. EPIC had earlier submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to NSA for the documents. That time has long since passed.
