Was * Spying On His Political Opponents?
Knowing the illegal - and paranoid - bent of these fascists, you've got to think that * was spying on his political opponents. Terrorism had nothing to do with it. He couldn't go to the FISA court because they would never have approved such illegal procedures.

Trust me, this will come out. We'll be treated to RWers spinning how there's nothing wrong with it.

Your thoughts?

1. That is all we can assume with no oversight under FISA

That's the only assumption we can make when the president balatantly violates the law.

4. Zero doubt that he did.
Until we see a list (which we won't unless he's impeached) I have to assume he's spying on everyone that disagrees with him.

5. Nixon, Reagan and Bush1 all had constant surveillance on John Kerry and
even used their own special force in the CIA tracking him during his investigations of IranContra and BCCI.

And Bush2 is worse than all the others put together.

6. Was there anything stopping him?
No.
So he was probably doing it.

13. Possibly.
Are we now assuming that the NSA would do this without raising a stink? I don't know enough about the NSA to hazard a guess as to how they'd feel about being used for political fraud for the republican party.

7. Yes, and he needs to be impeached and tried for TREASON.
I want Bush to be the first American President to be removed from office, tried, and imprisoned for life.

Nothing stops them from doing everything they want. They spied on countries at the UN. Have they no shame?

11. Have they no shame?
I think we know the answer to that one.
It is naive in the extreme to believe that politicians with the power to eavesdrop on anyone they want to, with no accountability or oversight, would not abuse that power.

14. That's the only reason I can come up with.
He didn't need to break the law and violate the Constitution in order to wiretap domestic calls. FISA allows him to do this and even gives him time to get a warrant AFTER the wiretap has been done.

They're wiretapping people they shouldn't be spying on.

15. During Chimp's Press Con, I wanted a reporter to ask that question.
I know that it was NOT going to happen, but I kept thinking it was the elephant in the room, among many but regarding spying on Americans, that everyone ignored.
