Cheney: "And what I'm concerned about, Terry, is that as we get farther and farther from 9/11, we've got — we seem to have people less and less committed to doing everything that's necessary to defend the country. "

No, you are concerned that you won't be able to invoke 9/11 in every speech, and use it as an open excuse for destroying the Constitution...

edit: spelling

1. You hit it on the head with your assessment. Which means, a new 9/11
will be necessary.

8. I had the same thought....
....as the wheels are comming off this administration, I wonder when they will orchestrate the next large-scale terrorist attack to regain their power. 9/11 worked well for them (at least initially) - it is only a matter of time until they produce another 'even' to justify their agenda. I am truly frightened at what they might do next.

11. I've heard a few
keep bringing up the incident in San Francisco so I wonder. I hope not. It would look too suspceious I think. I wonder if they would get away with it. Remember what Cheney said last year. If you vote for the wrong person you'd get attacked again.

2. What I'm concerned about is that nothing has *really* been done.
It's all lip service and nothing more from the bush administration. Kind of like the guy who keeps promising his kid a pony for Christmas, and one day the kid turns 18 and leaves home and realizes daddy is a frickin' liar.

Our Savior Big Brother will keep us safe in His "protective custody." After all, only Big Brother knows how we should exercise our liberties ... and he'll tell us when and where. You see, it's those liberties that endanger us!

21. Bullseye!
First, there's almost nothing we can do and still be an open society. Secondly, they don't care as long as they have fear as their primary lever. So, we haven't done anything, because we can't, and idiots still think they're safer now!

3. What he meant to say...
And what I'm concerned about, Terry, is that as we get farther and farther from 9/11, people will start to realize they have been had.

4. People appear to be questioning the speed with which
we command them to push the constitution through a shredder?

6. convoluted logic. Gee this is so stupid. Invading Iraq certainly...
is not defending America.

Instead of constantly speaking of defending, how about creating an atmosphere, which decreases the probability of one joining the ranks of suicide bombers, etc.?

7. Perhaps the farther away we get
the more realistic our assessment is of the danger of terror in this country.

I could be wrong..but it is looking more and more like an anomaly.

9. Exactly
I'm getting tired of them using it for their excuse. Heh, my brother told me yesterday he saw this comic strip where Bush was invoking 9/11 and than it showed other people, average citizen's, invoking 9/11. Like a baseball player did poorly and he blamed it on 9/11 and a husband had an affair and he blamed it on 9/11. It's simply ridiculous how these people invoke 9/11 for every criminal thing they do including spying on average Americans.

Edited on Mon Dec-19-05 02:05 PM by Hubert Flottz
Some people even begged the draft board for five deferments, they were so committed to dodging the draft. They had better more important things to do, like plotting on and spying on American citizens and pulling out a few fingernails back at the fuhrerbunker, underneath of Langley Virginia..

16. so true
9/11 is their answer for everything.

I swear, when was the last time the chimp answered a question without saying'-

"I appreciate your question. As you well know, on Sept 11..."

I'm so fucking sick of his bullshit.

17. The fascist campaign of Fear & Loathing needs new 'blood' per Dickus.
We've always been at war with our enemies and only Our Savior Big Brother can keep us safe ... but we must surrender to his "protective custody" for our own good. "It's hard work" he said from the cross, wearing his crown of thorns.

19. Not too much chance of anyone forgetting, DICK...
...not with you and your protege invoking it to blame everything from halitosis to the heartbreak of psoriasis. Maybe what you're really worried about, DICK, is that people are becoming less and less committed to signing over the federal treasury to Halliburton. Is that what you're really concerned about, DICK?

20. How do you know when the next 9/11 attack will happen?
Simple it will be when Cheney is in DC to run command and control of the whole operation. He'll be there to make sure the 'attack' is largest enuff to get us into Iran.

As long as Cheney is out of the US, our nation is safer. He isn't going to run a attack remotely.
