We all need to unite behind NSA Spy crime - pronto
Edited on Mon Dec-19-05 09:33 PM by Ugnmoose
I guess we DU'ers have seen so much shit from this cabal over the last 5 years go unchallenged that it is hard not to become cynical. But I truly do think Bushco stepped in over their head with this one and they know it.

Let's carefully examine the facts in terms ever American will soon understand. There is a law in place that allows the government to seek legal authority to wiretap and eavesdrop on people inside the U.S. if they feel they are a threat to our national security. The law is FISA and it has been in place since 1978. There is no legal justification for the President to circumvent this law. To do so is a clear violation of the civil liberties of every American citizen as defined in Article 4 of the Constitution. Given that the President swore on a bible in an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution, it should and will become very clear that he knowingly and willfully commited a high crime for which the House is mandated to bring Articles of Impeachment. There is no amount of spinning and fudging that can change the story. This is an outright violation of law of the most serious nature. And it will become apparent how heinous and vindictive an action this was once people start discovering that Bushco was not spying on potential terrorist, but in fact was spying on everyday citizens for purely political reasons. Once this is known - people will truly be outraged. This is what King Chimpo fears most.

And so we need to jump all over this. We need to write our newspapers, flood our Congressional offices with mail and blog our brains out to whomever we can. Enough is enough. Of all the abuses this band of criminals has commited this one cannot go unpunished. For to do so, will make a mockery of our bill of rights and the principles of democracy on which this country was founded. Tell your leaders they have not just a moral obligation, they have a legal obligation to uphold the Constitution and protect us from those who willfully and malicious abuse it for their own self interest. Tell them now. Just do it!

6. Thanks For Reminding Me...
...that Bush swore to uphold the constitution when he was sworn into office. It's pretty obvious that he broke that oath. Is this enough for impeachment? I hope it is, because I want this guy *gone*!

11. Thanks
I hope we can unite the entire activist Internet community behind this effort. When we speak in unison - they listen. We especially need to target Repuke House members in Blue States. These folks are vulnerable and know it. And support for Articles might be just enough to save their necks come next November.

16. I have borrowed from your post to send to newspapers. OK?
The recent allegations by the New York Times concerning the use of wiretaps upon citizens of the United States concerns me. The admission of said wiretaps by the President of the United States appalls me. Let's carefully examine the facts in terms so every American can understand. There is a law in place that allows the government to seek legal authority to wiretap and eavesdrop on people inside the U.S. if they feel they are a threat to our national security. The law is FISA and it has been in place since 1978. There is no legal justification for the President to circumvent this law. To do so is a clear violation of the civil liberties of every American citizen as defined by the 4th amendment to the Constitution. His excuse of the need for speed fails the sniff test. The FISA court has rarely if ever refused to return a warrant. I remind you that the President swore on a bible in an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. He has already acknowledged that he committed this act. The House is mandated to bring Articles of Impeachment. There is no amount of spinning and fudging that can change the story. Ignorance of the law is not a recognizable criminal defense in any state of the Union. This is an outright violation of law of the most serious nature. I call upon all of my fellow citizens to demand an investigation of the matter. Please write your elected Representatives and Senators.
