Lieberman starting to show some spine?
"I don't have any hesitation to be part of a filibuster," said Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, Democrat of Connecticut, who is a military hawk and a longtime foe of the Arctic drilling plan. "This is a tough fight," he added. "But it is a fight worth waging."

At least he is temporarily put the environment ahead of the war for once.

1. He hasn't voted yet........
until I see the results of a roll call vote I'm not willing to accept Lieberman's word on it.

3. No. I think he is seeing his next election as one he can lose if he
doesn't get some of the base back.

4. And what about the...
.. bad pharma protection law?

.. the provision giving people from NOLA a chance for a buyback program for their homes, lost in the House version?

.. the 40b in entitlements for the poor, disabled, and elderly that need to be reinstated?

5. If he filibusters this
and he comes down hard on spygate, I could forgive him the war.

and it's a sad day in America where I can forgive somebody their support for an illegal war if they'll fight against the dictatorial powers grabbed by the president.

6. Lieberman may be kissing GOP ass for Israel when it comes down to
Iraq....

But

He is Pro-Choice and PRO Environment. He has Dem principles for the most part.

7. Lieberman is consistent
when you look at the environment and most social issues, he's liberal. Foreign policy, he's conservative. Moderate on economic policy. There has been no change.

15. I'm just surprises that he is putting the environment
over the military actions in Iraq. I voted for Joe three times in CT, before moving to MD (remember his last opponent hahahahaha). He has always had been a liberal when it comes to social and environmental issues. That is one reason I have with him leaving the Senate and being replaced by a repub (shays or johnson, as the state has a repub gov).

10. Here's why he doesn't want ANWR: The new oil pipeline from...
...Iraq to Israel will suffer price competition if ANWR is drilled.

11. Why is Liberman a military hawk....
was he in the military?

I don't think anyone has a right to be a hawk unless they faught and know what war is like.

14. I'm not really sure. He was never in the military.
All I can think of is that his being Jewish plays a large roll in his anti-Arab stance.
