FED Judge Has Ruled "Intell Design" CANNOT be Mentioned in Biology

HARRISBURG, Pa. - A federal judge has ruled "intelligent design" cannot be mentioned in biology classes in a Pennsylvania public school district.

The Dover Area School Board violated the Constitution when it ordered that its biology curriculum must include "intelligent design," the notion that life on Earth was produced by an unidentified intelligent cause, U.S. District Judge John E. Jones III ruled Tuesday.

The school board policy, adopted in October 2004, was believed to have been the first of its kind in the nation.

"The citizens of the Dover area were poorly served by the members of the Board who voted for the ID Policy," Jones wrote. "It is ironic that several of these individuals, who so staunchly and proudly touted their religious convictions in public, would time and again lie to cover their tracks and disguise the real purpose behind the ID Policy."

The board's attorneys said members sought to improve science education by exposing students to alternatives to Charles Darwin's theory of natural selection causing gradual changes over time; intelligent-design proponents argue that it cannot fully explain the existence of complex life forms.

The plaintiffs argued that intelligent design amount to a secular repackaging of creationism, which the courts have already ruled cannot be taught in public schools.

But remember, ID fellas are like the bad guys on comic stories...they will be back surely :P

3. What about my attack on Newtonian Gravity?
My theory, called Intelligent Falling, proves that Newton was just spreading secular propoganda designed to minimize the effect God has on falling objects.

4. Not these guys - Dover School board was booted in Nov 2005
That was a major story! Every single last one of them except the one, and that's only because that person wasn't up for re-election. But 8 of them were replaced by democrats who said ID could be taught but only in an elective religon class.

When the new school board was elected they said they would let the current case finish out but they would not persue it any further (they new the new ruling with the federal courts was due sometime in Dec2005).

So at least for this particular case - it is overwith. But I'm sure new ones will crop up all over the country

9. Great, now Pennsylvania emerges from the dark ages
It is time to leave Kansas. These fundies would put our education system so far behind the times that American students could never compete in the global scientific community. Teach ID in sunday school, teach science in public education.

11. Judge absolutely smacked them, hard, vicious rebuke.
Really inspiring to read, the Judge just slams them as liars, slams ID as a sham, slams the Discovery Institute (ID "think tank) and the Thomas More Foundation (group of lawyers promoting ID) as all a bunch of liars forwarding an illegal agenda. Yay.
