my texas republican ex-husband, even before the nsa story-
i don't talk to him often, but happened to the other day. he is in the houston area, and maybe a little bitter. he lost his job due to katrina/rita. still. his comments-

h- bush is an abomination.

m- well, he is a liar.
h- yes, they cannot hide it anymore.
m- or spin it.
h- no. no way to spin it.

h- even the oil men hate him now.

m- and so corrupt.
h- yup. these halliburton contracts. the way the popped right up. i have worked with these guys. they are worse than the federal government to deal with. everything takes forever. but these katrina contracts, they just popped up ready to go. it smells.

so, there you have it folks. any polls that say otherwise are just made up shit.

4. he should know...
...that the administration has these pre-planned "reconstruction" packages all tied up in the event of disasters. There's an expose of it floating around somewhere; I read it a couple of months ago. Some people even think that the lack of response was deliberate so that turning the property into profit would be easier.

6. texans really dont believe govt should break constitution and law
it opposes the very basis of who they are. how they are going to justify this, i do not know. well i will ask brother and father, then i will know how they justify this. i see plenty on our side justifying the loss of rights for perceived safety of the whole

7. A co-worker of mine, this very morning said something kind of
similar. She has voted Republican in the past several cycles, but this morning she came into the office and said that the spying on citizens thing was the last straw; she is finished with Bush and "his criminal gang" (her words). I was pleased, even if it is too little, too late...

8. Thanks for the Xmas present.
Now if only these disaffected Repubs can be convinced to abandon the whole party rather than just the Bush league....
